Overview

During this 120-minute art tour, through the permanent collection in the Rijksmuseum, you will explore how the artists Rembrandt and Vermeer captured the incredible expansion of the Dutch Golden Age.

See the people, the objects, and the paintings that define this unprecedented era of Dutch history, and explore how the art reflects the changing values and beliefs of the republic.

Meet your guide at the Cobra Cafe at Museumplein. Right at the starting time of the tour, the guide will enter the museum with the group. People who are late will unfortunately loose their ticket, as the museum works with strict timeslots.

After the 2-hour guided tour inside the Rijksmuseum, you can stay as long as you wish, relax at the cafe or continuing appreciating the work of arts.

Frans Hals:
Between 16th of February and 9th of June 2024, you can choose to enter the Frans Hals exhibition (one-hour), continued by a two-hour guided tour in English through the permanent collection.

Our guide was excellent. He was knowledgeable and I appreciated the historical context in which he explained the paintings as we went through the museum.

This is our second tour with Martina. There are 2 types of guides: one who is an expert in her field and the other a bad comedian who reads his script. Martina is an expert and today it was no surprise that she learned her craft of bringing classical art alive as she was brought up in a family of art dealers. On this tour (as well as our tour of the Jewish neighborhoods) Martina told a grand story that lasted throughout the tour and integrated our stops and the exhibits into that larger narrative. Either on the streets or in the gallery Martina was capable of keeping us safe, informed and entertained. Martina is also forcefully diplomatic. There is always a couple of folks on any group tour whose actions threaten to be an obstacle to the larger group. Martina quickly handled all personal, technological or administrative challenges with patience and determination. If I travel to Amsterdam again I’ll simply contact 360 and arrange my tours around Martina’s schedule. Congratulations to 360 for bringing such a skilled tour guide to your impressive team. And Martina thank you for making our visit both memorable and a true learning experience. Who knew Rembrandt was his first name!!!!
