Stop At: Arataki Visitor Centre - Waitakere Ranges, 300 Scenic Drive, Nihotupu, Piha, Auckland 0604 New Zealand

Following an 11:30am pickup at your Auckland hotel, take a seat in your air-conditioned minivan for the 35-miute drive to the coast to begin your 5-hour sightseeing tour.

First, visit the Arataki Center and admire panoramic views over the Waitakere Ranges to the Pacific Ocean and the Tasman Sea. Discover extensive displays of local wildlife, and gain insight into the struggles faced by New Zealand’s early settlers.


Stop At: Piha Beach, Piha, Auckland New Zealand

Head onward to Piha Beach — renowned for its great surf and black sands — and dip your toes into the cold Tasman Sea. Then, enjoy a wholesome lunch in a local café before heading onward to Karekare Beach — home to natural attractions including a freshwater waterfall.


Stop At: Unique Visions Tours, 123 Shaw Road, Auckland Central, Auckland 0604 New Zealand

Delve into the Cascade Kauri Park in the heart of the Waitakere Ranges, and follow your guide along winding hiking trails through dense forest. Along the way, gain insight into New Zealand’s flora and fauna, and perhaps discover native wildlife in the treetops.

On 3/7, Brett took us on an incredible tour to the west coast. We walked the pristine beach and peeked into a narrow cave. We made several other stops. Brett added dimension to his descriptions by giving the small group (just my wife and I and another couple) the Maori names and history of what we were seeing. He was very knowledgeable and added his passion to what he described. The added bonus was the incredible photos he took of us along the way, which he sent to us after our tour. If you want to visit this beautiful area in NZ, I highly recommend taking this tour, and hope you’re lucky enough to get Brett!!

Brett was an amazing tour guide! He took us to some amazing places and was very imformative about each area we visited. I would definitely recommend this tour to others. He also brought his own camera and took photos which he provided/shared.

Brett was an amazing tour guide! He took us to some amazing places and was very imformative about each area and of New Zealand. Definitely book this activity, we caught a bad day of rain and Brett did not deter us from doing anything but encouraged us. He also has his own camera that he will happily take photo's of you.

Brett is very knowledgeable about the Bush, both geology and biology. Don’t think lecture but interesting facts. The scenery was beautiful and it was wonderful to see the NZ countryside, and coast.
He was excellent in every way.

Brett was an excellent host. He was extremely informative and his choice for the lunch stop was outstanding. He even took photos of us and emailed them to us. This was a nice extra. I liked that this was a small group and he could tailor the trip to our needs.
