Walk around the Hobbiton Movie Set on a guided Tour where the Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit films were made, Finish the trip with a stop at the Green Dragon for a beverage.

Stop At: Waitomo Glowworm Caves, 39 Waitomo Village Road, Waitomo Caves 3943 New Zealand

Walk through the Iconic Glow Worm caves on a guided Tour and see the spectacular formations, finish the tour with a boat ride through the Glowworm tunnels.

Great Value and Great Guide! The cost is good value for money if you consider the cost of individual tickets at each site. Waitomo Caves adult ticket is $170 and Hobbiton $120. The van had 10 people comfortably accomodated with free wifi. Jason was an excellent guide with good info on the tour and additional information. Also a very good driver. All in all a wonderful day’s outing and I recommend this tour highly.

The short version : The tour was amazing, and thanks to our guide Mr. Adil who was very knowledgeable and kept us very engaged with interesting facts and tips. The longer version : We were picked up from our hotel in Auckland CBD at about 6.20 am and we went straight to Hobbiton via Hamilton. We reached Hobbiton by 8.30 am and grabbed a quite breakfast before starting off on the Hobbiton Film set tour at 9.00 am for a 2.30 hours duration tour. After the Hobbiton tour, we were taken straight to Waitomo Caves and reached there by 2 pm. The Waitomo caves visit lasted about 45 minutes. Throughout our trip, Mr. Adil narrated the history, geography and economy of NZ. He explained to us about the flora and fauna of NZ. He dropped us back in our hotel at 5 pm.

Hobbiton and Waitomo are absolute musts for first time visitors to Auckland! Auckland & Beyond did not disappoint. We wanted a smaller group that would be more comfortable than a large bus as the trip takes the whole day. Our tour guide picked up everyone promptly and we were the first group to make it to Hobbiton ahead of all the other smaller groups. Our guide had plenty of local information to share, stories to tell, and was also pretty funny. We never felt rushed at all, but he was always not too far when you needed him. Hobbiton was stunning for both fans of LOTR and those who have never seen the movies or read the books. I was skeptical at first about Waitomo but it really was a beautiful experience. Booking through Auckland & Beyond made it much easier to jump ahead of the crowd of people waiting to go into the caves. It was also really great to be guided through the caves by some of the local people indigenous to the area. Seeing the glow worms in the cave were amazing. Overall, Auckland & Beyond is the way to go. Great driver, comfortable ride, snack and water provided, stopped in Otorohanga to get lunch (we got meat pie's of course). We even made it back to Auckland earlier than expected. Without a doubt would recommend Auckland & Beyond to anyone considering going to Hobbiton and Waitomo.
