Day 1: Te Puia Geothermal Valley(incl. Hangi Buffet Lunch) & Travel to Napier

The Bombay Hills are a range of hills to the south of Auckland, New Zealand. Though only a small and seemingly insignificant range of hills, they lie at the southern boundary of the Auckland region, and serve as a divide between Auckland and the Waikato region. directly named after the ship Bombay, The ship itself was named after the Indian city of Bombay (now Mumbai). Bombay Means: a breed of black short-haired medium-sized cat.

We stop to get some great coffee at your own expense and a comfort break before we continue our journey into the Waikato region.

We will also pass through the unique town of Tirau (the corrugated iron sculpture capital of the world) known for its antique shops and animal-shaped corrugated iron buildings.

Stop At: Te Puia, Hemo Road, Rotorua New Zealand
Situated in Rotorua, Te Puia is an iconic destination for visitors. Visit Te Puia Geothermal Valley on a Guided Tour to experience an authentic Māori Cultural Performance and visit the Arts Centre and get to see the beautiful Pōhutu Geyser erupting 30 metres above the ground on a guided walking tour followed by a delicious Hangi Buffet lunch and continue exploring the geothermal city highlights by visiting the stunning locations in the heart of Rotorua. Explore historic gardens that surround a Tudor-style spa bath house and an ornate Mediterranean-style public swimming pool. Peer through the steam into ancient bubbling geothermal pools.

Day 2: Bluff Hill Lookout, Napier City Art Deco Tour, Cape Kidnappers Experience

We start our day with a Stop at Napier's Bluff Hill lookout for spectacular views of your ship berthed directly below.

Experience Napier’s Art Deco heritage. Visit the world-famous sights, suburbs, buildings and landmarks of our town. Take a walk back in time with a guided walking tour. Your local guide will tell you stories of the earthquake that destroyed the city and the remarkable recovery and rebuild that was completed in less than two years.

Stop At: Gannet Safaris Overland Ltd, 396 Clifton Road, Te Awanga 4172, New Zealand
Visit Cape Kidnappers the world’s largest, most accessible mainland gannet colony. Ride in style and comfort over picturesque Cape Kidnappers Station in air-conditioned 4 x 4 vehicles – traversing riverbeds, broad rolling pastures, through stands of native bush, steep gullies and breath taking views. The birds can be seen from September to April. There is a stop on the way at a spectacular cliff top with panoramic views of Hawke Bay right across to the Mahia Peninsula. The amazing geology of the area can also be taken in. The 36km, three hour trip includes commentary by your tour guide on the farming operation of Cape Kidnappers Station and an introduction to the gannets. Included is a coffee or tea at the colony.

Day 3: Te Mata Peak, Church Road Winery & National Aquarium

Travel out through orchards and vineyards to Te Mata Peak, views over the Heretunga Plains are spectacular. On a clear day it is possible to see the snow capped peaks of Mt Ruapahu.

Day 4: Lake Taupō, Huka Falls, Huka Honey Hive Experience

Explore the scenic beauty of Lake Taupō waterfront by stretching your legs along one of many lakeside walking trails. Take a step away and enjoy the complete peace and quiet of water's edge picnic spots and elevated viewing areas.

We start from Napier on our way back to Auckland. As we again pass through Taupo, Just in 10 minutes’ drive from Taupō town centre, along a beautiful forest-clad road that passes the world-famous luxury resort, you’ll hear the Huka Falls well before you see them – it’s the sound of nearly a quarter of a million litres of water per second erupting from a natural gorge and thundering 11m into the Waikato river below. This incredible waterfall is the most-visited natural attraction in New Zealand – it’s hard to tear your gaze away from the endless, mesmerising torrent.
