A Traditional Wine & Tapas Tour of our Favourite Bodegas in El Born:

Our love for Barcelona started in the enchanting artisanal neighborhood of El Born, in the heart of the old city. Inspired by our passion for the area and it’s wonderful heritage, we created Born to Eat to share our favourite bars, bodegas & restaurants with you.

We start our afternoon’s experience with aperitifs in a beautiful rustic bar. You’ll get to know your fellow travellers and guide as we share some of the intertwined history and culture of the areas, to set the scene for the rest of your tour. You’ll learn about the traditions of vermut, the little alleyways of Born, the politics in Catalunya; from the medieval past to the civil war and how all these have influenced the eating culture today.

Over the next few hours we visit three more tapas food stops, indulging in dishes from different parts of Spain and savoring the drinks that are paired with them. Our final stop is a traditional wine bodega, where we indulge in the art of wine tasting. Catalunya has no less than 11 D.O.’s and you will get to try at least 4

different types of wine and cava in a historic bodega.

This is an experience to get to know the feel of our barrio of El Born; an afternoon with locals going where they go - learning, laughing, eating and drinking.

We booked a private tour for 4 people as a business event with some foreign collaborators. The experience was exceeding all the expectations we had in many ways, from the selection of food and wines to the excellent tourmanship of our guide. As a local, I enjoyed very much the choices and explanations and our foreign partners were totally satisfied with the evening. The conversations with the guide were a big part of what made it interesting as he was knowledgeable and willing to share and discuss on many topics.

Our guide was Dani...we did a 3 hour tour in the afternoon for a bachelor party. The food was DELICIOUS as well as the alcohol. You will definitely leave full and a little buzzed but the rooftop finale overlooking the marina was the best part. Dani was also an amazing tour guide!

Our group did a private version of the Born to Eat tour, and we had the best time roaming the streets of El Born with our fantastic guide (and new friend), Sevan. He was extremely knowledgeable about the culture, geography and history of Catalunya and Spain, and offered unique and interesting perspective to help us appreciate the delicious food and drinks even more. We visited some wonderful local tapas bars - each with their own personality - and ended the evening tasting 4 delicious Spanish wines. Sevan was also so funny and personable and really brought the city to life for us, offering personal stories and experiences of his time in the city that made us all want to move there! It was a true highlight of the trip, and I can't wait to come back to Barcelona and do it again!

I love going on walking food tours when I travel. I think they are a fantastic way to learn about a city, get acclimated, enjoy some great food and wine that I may not have known about and let someone else take the lead for a change. This was by far the absolute best walking food tour I have ever taken! Our tour guide Brian was so fun and friendly and made us feel very relaxed from the moment we met him. It was almost like meeting up with your cool old buddy from college that still lives and travels abroad. I love that he was super knowledgable about any question I threw at him(and let's face it I'm "that person" that asks obscure things) but also he didn't sound boilerplate or rehearsed. The food that we tasted on this tour was amazing and actually set the tone for the rest of the trip (loved the pintxos). Learning about the Vermouth was so cool (we even found a local distributor as soon as we made it back in the states). His general knowledge of wine and the food pairings was very impressive. This company really does it differently! They train their employees so that they don't just answer easy pamphlet type questions and that they really are there to make your experience unique and unparalleled. In terms of quantity, there was plenty of food (I was stuffed) and a friendly pour of beverages. I really feel I got my money's worth. I would re-book this tour or another from the same company with Brian as our leader anytime! He would be a fantastic fit for any group dynamic, date night, or even a hen party (he's pretty cute ladies!).
