A must-see if you have time to go a little way from the city of Barcelona itself. The views from the hiking trail are breath-taking! The guides were exceptionally well informed and friendly. They described the history of Montserrat (as well as significant features of the surrounding Catalunya region as a whole) and led the group on a route that was physically less taxing than might otherwise have been the case had we been left to wander the mountain trails on our own.

We don't particularly like organised tours but chose this one for convenience. Pickup was centrally located near to where we were staying. Our small bus was comfortable. We had plenty of time around the monastery and then a lovely trip on the furnicular and a hike back down to the monastery. We saw the boys choir sing but that last but was a bit rushed - perhaps 10-15 minutes more would have allowed us to exit the crowded church for easily. Paula was a great tour leader, with lots of good details and very friendly and helpful.
