Overview

Come and hike around the hidden trails of Montserrat, the world famous multi-peaked “sawed mountain”, visit the Benedictine Abbey and discover its amazing history with a passionate local guide on a Premium Small Group Tour from Barcelona.

We will start the day visiting the Benedictine abbey of Santa Maria de Montserrat, home of the black madonna "La Moreneta" and discovering its amazing history and most interesting spots. Then we will get ready and start hiking across Montserrat most beautiful trails going across its singular rock formations and forests. From the trails of Montserrat we will enjoy incredible panoramic views and will try some typical Catalan snacks (please bring your own sandwich for lunch). After the hike we will come back to the Abbey where we will some free time for visiting the farmers market, relaxing or hear the famous Escolania de Montserrat boys choir sing (on working days from Monday to Friday, subject to Basilica capacity.

Enjoy a guided visit of Montserrat Monastery with your spaecialized local guide. He will discover you the most important historical facts and the significance of this Benedictine Monasery founded on XI century for the Catalan culture and identity. You will also learn some of Montserrat Monastery legends. Monastery skip the line tickets are included.

Stop At: Montana de Montserrat, 08199 Montserrat Spain

Hike the scenic trails of Montserrat Natural Park. Enjoy breathtaking views and discover Montserrat flora, fauna and geology with your local mountain guide

Duration: 3 hours

Stop At: Monestir de Montserrat, Monestir de Montserrat, Bages, Catalonia

After hiking return back to Montserrat Monastery where you will have free time before returning to Barcelona. Visit the farmer's market and try the local cheeses, mató and honey.

We did this tour on the 28th of March 2024 in the morning. The tour was really great, we started with a little walk trough Montserrat Monastery with explanation of our guide and time to walk around by yourself. After this the hike started where we had some amazing views, our guide told a lot during the hike about the surrounding of Montserrat and provide some nice Catalan snacks. We can recommend this tour if you wanna see, do and enjoy a day outside Barcelona!!

Amazing experience. Beautiful place. Got to see the monastery when it was not crowded (was raining too, so crowds were less). Saw the black Madonna from afar. Could have gone back after the hike to see it from close if we wanted. Our guide Bernard was great. His delivery of information was not good at times but he slowed down took his time, made sure we got what he was saying. Lot of knowledge, He is passionate about the mountain and conservation and it came through. We walked up and down. Our boys, ages 22, 18, 13 all loved the experience. We explored the local market after the hike. Boys enjoyed the snacks. It was slippery from the rain and Bernard guided us very well.
