This is the country’s second largest and most famous National park for locals and foreigners alike. Situated on the south-East coast of Sri Land it has an area of over 375 square miles. It is made up of five blocks of which two are open to visitors. The Ruhuna national Park and the Kumana bird sanctuary.These two parks are most important for conservation . It has a variety of eco systems ranging from moist monsoon forest to scrub jungle, fresh water wetlands ,and saltwater lagoon and marshlands. It is well stocked with a variety of wild life and is an important conservatory for Elephants ,leopards and Birds. It is known as the area with the highest density of leopard population in the world. Visitors can take a safari trip in the park which is an unforgettable experience. Within the park there are ancient monasteries ,which add to the parks attractions.

Really exciting day trip out from Bentota & even the drive there was inciteful. Our driver was so friendly & informative pointing out interesting sights & banana & tea plantations & palm oil trees. Great lunch stop off before being picked up by jeep from restaurant. We were lucky on our safari to see a leopard up a tree across the lagoon elephant family huge crocodile amazing birds plus much more. Very comfortable drive back in air conditioned car. Will definately book more trips through Bentota travel next time we are in the area. Thank you!@

One amazing day. Both drivers was great, both in Yala and transfer from Bentota. We left Bentota around 10am and was back 9pm. Perfect for us. Just before the safari we had a tasty lunch. No stress from the drivers. The safari was so cool we saw alot of different animals like elephants (including babies), buffalos, peacock, dear, crocodile, moneys etc. But no luck with the leopard. The ride is bumpy but that is expected. Had a bathroom break after ~2,5h

Lots of apparent random driving with no sharing of sightings with other drivers Dis not see a massive amount of animals - no leopards

Ishan our Driver was polite and helpful and we felt safe with his driving. The safari was amazing and we managed to see so many wonderful animals, even a leopard towards the end. However the jeep we did the safari in was not overly comfortable especially given the terai. We were travelling. The safari guide/driver was brilliant and assured we were happy and saw as much as possible. My only criticism is of the Reserve itself, it was so busy with too many jeeps and often felt noisy and rushed to get the best view of something before other jeeps pushed their way in. Too many vehicles and visitors will ruin the reserve I feel.

It was really great safari. The driver was skilled and know what he did. Thanks to him and good luck we had chance to see a leopard and a bear. They were really attentive to us.
