On this tour, you willexplore the Brandenburg Gate, original remnants of the Berlin Wall, former sites of the 3rd Reich, WWII & Cold War and much more...On this enlightening, 3-hours walking tour your guide's superb story-telling skills will weave the themes of the Nazi Period, Cold War and 21st-century Berlin into a detailed narrative. After walking through the Brandenburg Gate and seeing the Reichstag Building (only from the outside), you’ll take a walk past the Holocaust Memorial and see the former site of Hitler's bunker. Listen as your guide explains what happened here at the end of the war, and why there is nothing left to see. You'll then see how 21st-century Berlin is taking shape on Potsdamer Platz and find out where the Nazi SS and Gestapo HQ stood. Have a glance at the Berlin Wall and follow the “Death Strip” to Checkpoint Charlie. While you walk, your guide will explain how the Wall was built, as well as the momentous events of its fall in 1989.

We thoroughly enjoyed Harald, our private guide for this tour. He integrated public memorials/historic displays as well his own collection of historic photographs to tell the story of Berlin's iconic monuments over the years. I found his photographs to be incredibly helpful to visualize former versions of the city and its buildings. My 17 yo son is a WWII buff and Harald engaged him in very intelligent and thoughtful conversations along our tour. Highly informative, professional and personable!

My husband and I contacted Harald based on our son's recommendation and we were very pleased! We met Harald at a pre-arranged site and walked and toured with him for 4 hours! The tour encompassed all of the major historical sites of the city from the perspective of a local. It was a great way to get an overview and yet left much for us to explore on our own the next day.
