Overview

Sail by Turkish 'gulet,' a traditional wooden sail boat, around the breathtaking Gulf of Gökova on a 7-night cruise from Bodrum. Introducing you to the off-the-grid Aegean alcoves and islands that seem to be untouched by the outside world, the tour showcases the delights of rural Turkey. All meals are included on board, leaving you to ponder little else besides how to spend your time; swim in pure-blue seas, walk through pine forests, ogle heart-stopping scenery or simply laze under the sun. Optional excursions, such as a visit to the ancient city of Kaunos near Dalyan, can also be arranged.

We could not have had a better time. The crew was warm, fun and wonderful. Our gulet-mates are now friends for life, people from around the world. The destinations were just sumptuous, there is no clearer water on the planet than we saw on this cruise, and we have been to Tahiti. We would never do a regular cruise, but this is so intimate, hugging gorgeous beaches with ancient ruins, snorkeling, exploring, pure bliss. While snorkeling we saw octopus's, moray eels, stone fish, sea snakes, and other amazing fishies. We were also wonderfully surprised by the food! Always freshly prepared by our awesome crew, lots of side dishes for variety, fresh salads, fresh fruit desserts. They provided us with fishing gear, and if we caught something, that was on our dinner plates. There were even a couple of times the crew hooked a charcoal grill onto the side of the gulet for awesome BBQ fish and chicken. We loved it so much, we have vowed we are going to do another Turkish gulet cruise. We will for sure book with La Vacanza Travel if they have one that looks good. The value of this cruise is outstanding. btw, if you are offered the excursion to Dalyan, do it for sure!!! Mind-boggling ruins built on sheer cliff faces, a gentle boat cruise through rivers, great Turkish lunch and sea turtles. Great guide, too. We had an awesome day!!

The Gulet boat was a wonderful experience. We swam in a variety of bays each day. The crew of three tended to each travellers needs very well. The food was varied and delicious each meal. The crew, although spoke little English were good fun. The other travellers on the whole were good to be with. The only negative is the first and last night which was in Bodrum Marina. Unfortunately between 11pm til 4am each night approximately six Night Clubs blast unbearable music all over the water front allowing for no sleep, tourism at it's worse. I would have liked to know this before hand so I could remained at our Hotel which was far away from this noise for those nights.

Great stop. Amazing ruins, the clearest bluest waters we have ever seen, and Cleopatra was here! Mark Anthony brought her sand from Egypt for her beach on this island to keep her happy.
