Overview

We believe that Turkish cuisine is one of the best and healthiest cuisines in the world. At Cooking Classes Bodrum we offer recreational cooking holidays in an idyllic setting near Bodrum, overlooking the ancient Bargilya lagoon, where even the birds choose to rest on their journeys to the south. Turkish cuisine is a melting pot of traditions and cultures, developed in the fertile lands at the heart of human civilization. There are endless varieties of recipes, with each region, town, and neighborhood having their own unique food traditions. In Bodrum we have access to fresh produce and seafood all year round, making it the place to take a cooking class and to learn about Turkish cuisine. We specialize in Aegean Turkish cuisine, which is mainly based on olive oil dishes and vegetables and herbs. Our cooking classes are an ideal holiday activity for those interested in healthy eating and unlocking the health benefits of the Turkish way of eating.

We drive to the farmers’ market to shop for the ingredients of your lunch, which will be comprised of four cold starters, one warm entrée and a main course followed by desert. At the market you will encounter local food purveyors who offer all manner of self-harvested olives, wild seasonal greens, vegetables, as well as home-made noodles, jams, pickles, breads and a delicious array of cheeses. From the market we will drive to our place to cook, here we will guide you through the delicious secrets of regional Aegean cookery with its accent on olive oil and fresh herbs, a very special and particularly healthy branch of Turkish cuisine. You will be invited to watch the cooking sessions while sipping a glass of wine, or join-in for a hands-on experience if you’d rather. Either way, we guarantee you we will be entertained and with the help of the written recipes we will offer you, be able to recreate the feast back at home.

We will serve you a lunch of all the wonderful dishes we have cooked together, at tables where we will share stories of Turkish Cuisine and cooking traditions in our families while tasting our local wines.

Although we enjoyed our class, we didn't have the whole experience that was advertised. I am uncertain of the reasons, but we did not have the visit to the farmers market but to a local garden that we picked vegetables for our meal. After our class we left without a dessert course. It felt as if we were abruptly leaving to return to our ship. The chef did not interact much with our large group due to some confusion with her restaurant (at least that's the impression we had).

Fantastic lens on Turkish cuisine and culture. We spent a super day with Asli visiting the market and then to her very well equipped kitchen. Everything except our market produce was already prepped and we soon set to cooking an array of sublime dishes. We were concerned about cooking on such a hot day but the kitchen is cool and comfortable and the entire experience was both relaxing and engaging. Would highly recommend this class and Asli was a gracious and warm host with deep knowledge of not only Turkish cuisine but cooking in general.

The farmer’s market tour was interesting and we bought some spices. The vineyard d olive grove venue for cooking was beautiful but an hour ride. The cooking instructor was great and the meal even better!

Ours was a wonderfully small-group (3 couples) experience. Lots of personalized attention from Asli. Loved learning about her culinary trajectory and about the vineyard where her tastings, cooking classes, etc., operate. Amazingly gorgeous setting - extremely serene. Low-stress food prep/cooking, even for non-chefs. Delicious meal on a series of sumptuously set tables. Even got to drink the vineyard's beautiful wine. Market experience beforehand was tasty and interesting, but adds travel time, depending where market is held on a given day (location changes daily). Considerable travel time to the vineyard, but well worth it to be among its olive trees, grape vines and resident pets. Enthusiastic five stars!
