Known for its walking trail throughout the year. The trail to the waterfalls of Johnston Canyon has to be the busiest in the Canadian Rockies. Nearly every day throughout the summer, hundreds of hikers follow its canyon-clinging catwalks and cliff-mounting staircases to the gorge’s Lower and Upper Falls. Throughout the journey, scan the creek and its banks for dippers. Also known as water ouzels, these solitary, slate-grey birds are often seen bouncing up and down on streamside rocks.

It is one of the most bizarre feats of engineering to get the grade of a train line to be at or below 2.2%. The 2 day tour was jam packed and did make for a long day. Beautiful sights, however the 2nd day was slightly different than what was on the itenary and we were placed on a different bus than what we had originally been on the first day. Regardless, both tour guides were good and knowledgeable of the areas we were touring.
