Scholars Punting Cambridge offer a shared punting tour of the Cambridge College backs. The duration is 45 minutes. 

Due to COVID 19, the seating is now very spacious. You now pay for a minimum of three adult passengers to account for this. Please note that you may be seated opposite other customers in certain circumstances.

Your Chauffeur is trained at driving so that he can guide you safely along the river. He will also give you a history tour, telling you interesting facts about the river and its surroundings.

All our punts are traditionally built using hardwood. They come with cushions and blankets for your comfort.

We also sell a range of private tours, as well as the shared tour sold here. Private tours are only available directly from our website.

Relax in our comfortable punts (they are a bit like Gondolas)

There are no set times, so please just turn up and go on the next available tour. The benefit to pre-booking tickets is that the online rate is 30% cheaper.

You will receive an interesting historic commentary.

You can see all of the historic Cambridge sites, for example, Kings College Chapel.

Our boats are now socially distanced with screens for your safety during the COVID 19 outbreak.

The punter, whose name I forget, said he can be referrred to as The Pirate due to his hat. He was an older man and very knowledgable. He answered all our questions and added interesting facts and opinions as well as informing us on what we were seeing. I would highly recommend this company for a relaxing punt on the river Cam in Cambridge especially if you lucky enough to have The Pirate as your punter and tour guide.

Jacob did a great job giving us a tour for the whole family - from 8 year olds up to grandparents! He was informative, personable and a skilful punter. It was excellent value for money, highly recommended!

My friend and I thoroughly enjoyed our punting trip. The views are stunning. However, it was our tour guide Nick who made the experience unforgettable. His enthusiasm and pride for Cambridge was so uplifting, creating engagement to the in-depth and knowledgeable stories he has about present day and historical Cambridge. It was a joy to watch. Thanks Nick!

This is well worth doing if in Cambridge, it is very relaxing, the Punts were as described and were not over crowded. It rained on the way back, and an umbrella would have been good, otherwise cannot fault it.

I am disgusted by this company. I booked a 14:10pm on 23rd March for a shared punting activity on GetYourGuide app that same day in the morning, got confirmed with an email and I arrived at 14:03pm to the place, talked to the punting agent and he confirmed me for my booking. Minutes later, he told me the punt was overbooked, pushed me to a later slot and only saying there’s nothing he can do about it. I had no choice but to wait for the later slot since I have already planned this activity and I do not live in Cambridge. I complained on getyourguide about this matter and the agent filed a complaint back to scholars punting only to be told that I WAS LATE FOR THE PUNTING TOUR and they were nice about it to let me into a later slot. I am baffled by the fact that they lied about this when I was EARLY to my slot, got confirmed by the punting guide AND then get told later I have to be put into a later slot due to overbooking. Although the later slot was 20 mins later, it was really cold and windy that day, my mom is already really old and do not live in a cold country, so a place like this I wouldn’t want her to wait for too long if it’s not needed. We waited until the scheduled time only to be waiting more for the absent agent nowhere to be found which costed us having to wait for longer until the agent appeared. The fact that this company lied to getyourguide about my punctuality does not sit well with me and I truly think this is not how you treat your customers.
