Overview

The Aquila Private Game Reserve, located in the Southern Karoo Highlands outside Cape Town, offers a Big Five African safari experience in a malaria-free region. Tours and game drives of the private reserve allow visitors to see wildlife in their natural environment from the vantage point of a 4WD off-road vehicle, horseback, or quad bike.

Enjoy a South African game drive on a private day tour. Head into the wilderness at the Aquila Private Game Reserve on the lookout

Cape Town and the surrounds have a warm, dry climate from October to April. The weather is a bit cooler in the Southern Karoo Highlands than in the city itself, so pack accordingly. The animals are most active in the early morning and after dusk; booking a morning or evening safari offers the best chance of seeing maximum wildlife.

• The reserve has a children's entertainment area, suitable for toddlers to preteens, with indoor and outdoor activities; it is open daily.
• Those staying overnight must bring proof of identification.
• Children of all ages may participate in game drives; quad bike and horseback safaris have a minimum age of 16.
• All game drives are guided by rangers; there is no self-drive option within the reserve.

Highly recommended, our 2 day stay was amazing, our game drives with Kianu and Max were informative, teaching us about the wildlife. all the staff were very friendly and professional a true reflection on Dougal Paterson the GM’s management skills, thank you for a memorable few days. Hope to be back soon A&M

I have just returned from a two day stay at Inverdoon Game Reserve 2 and half hours from Cape Town. Inverdoon is advertised as a Big Five Game Reserve. Inverdoon is NOT a game reserve. It is more like a game park with a few animals which are supplementary fed to survive in that arid environment. In my opinion Inverdoon is falsly and inaccurately advertised. Overseas visitors that we met whilst being at the reserve were hugely disappointed as they all felt they were going on Safari to this big five game reserve. It gives overseas visitors a false idea of South African Game Reserves and cannot be good for our tourism. The accommodation is acceptable as is their food. but the idea that this a game reserve is a misrepresentation.
