The tour was very very interesting and impressiv! Our guide Lutho made an incredible tour - many interesting information, storys and different impressions! We made a lot of beautiful encouters with kids, teachers and other people! For sure we won‘t forget this tour! Thank you very much for this experience!
Such a great way to learn about and experience a township. A must do activity if visiting Cape Town. Our guide Lutho was so friendly, knowledgeable and made us feel really safe. The children in the township were so sweet. Also good opportunities to contribute to community development projects!
Forget about everything you think you know about townships and the cliches you saw on TV Instead, you will meet warm and welcoming people and discover the daily life of the community as if you were part of it. I was inspired by their courage when I understood how they organize school, library, social aid etc. despite the obvious lack of resources. The cycling experience is great to move around the different parts of that big village Our guides grew up in this area and have a lot of stories to share. The walk with them inside the maze of the unformal settlement and passing by in front of people's houses greeting at you was really fun Important to note that I never felt awkward and never felt like we are doing a safari to see misery This is a truly moving and mind blowing human experience that I consider a must-do to anybody coming to Cape Town
Nice guy Mike showed us his hometown. Interesting history and present. Really worth doing,I highly recommend to go by bike through capetown....
We had our tour with Shaun. We noticed there hasn’t been many reviews before, so here are some practical tips: - Shaun shared that the township tours are typically conducted by either him or Luthor (I hope I spelt that right). Both of them live within the area. - The township is nearer to Hout Bay / Kalk Bay, rather than Cape Town. We took an Uber down from Cape Town, it takes about 45 minutes. - At no point of the tour did we feel unsafe. The locals seem to know Shaun pretty well. - Tour was very well-conducted. You can see efforts are made indeed to improve on the education level and conditions of the place, which is encouraging - We were concerned whether it will end up being somewhat like a human zoo. When we were there, we didn’t get the vibe. - Shaun was a great guide whom you can tell is genuinely keen to make life better around. We were pretty touched and inspired by his genuinity. - All in all, this was a great tour, which I would highly recommend - Bicycles are in functional condition, owned by AWOL tours. It wasn’t terrifying to cycle, and we thought the traffic was reasonable.
