I booked the Platteklip Gorge hike which turned out to be more physically challenging than I had expected, but I managed to do it thanks to the patience and support of my wonderful guide Oliver. Everything was looked after. Oliver met me at the ferry terminal in the early afternoon following my tour of Robben Island. I had stupidly forgotten to pack sunscreen and a hat, but Oliver provided the former and did a detour to a mall so that I could buy the latter. Lunch was provided on the trail. I took so long to do the hike that we ended up catching the last cable car down, but Oliver managed to turn this into a positive by finding us a good spot to watch the sunset before driving me back to my hotel. Oliver and AWOL gave me an amazing memory of Cape Town for a lifetime that I will never forget.

Definitely a five star experience. Bevan was an outstanding guide climbing up Table Mountain. There were places we would not have even known where to climb next without him. He was a rest teacher and guide. It was a strenuous climb, but there are other trail options if you do not want to scales up rocks. My 19 year old sighted and I hade a great time. Such amazing beauty when we paused to see the view. Great exercise and an overall amazing experience. I would definitely request Bevan if you want to climb Table Mountain.

Our guide, Andy Wright, was knowledgeable about birds, animals, plants, history of the area. Also very nice and sensitive to our fitness level and interests. Wonderful day on Table Mountain!

We did a guided hike of Lion’s Head with Peter and it was amazing. The hike itself was incredibly pretty and great exercise. It was quite difficult at times but well worth the climb to the top. The views are spectacular. Our guide, Peter, was great. He brought snacks and water, but more importantly helped us learn a ton about Cape Town, South Africa, and the nature in the area. I am very glad we did this hike with Peter and AWOL Tours and would gladly book another adventure with them in the future!

I was guided by Bevan who was fantastic & very knowledgable. Who would have thought Capetown has a mountain biking Mecca in the Center of the city - Table Mountain! Ride on way down was really spectacular. A guide is essential & AWOL tours is highly professional & I recommend them without hesitation.
