Built in the 1830s mainly from wood, this unique gem features 109 doors and windows and surrounds itself with a magnificent garden and a waterfall that flows from the river of Moka. The museum illustrates Mauritius’s distant past as well as recent history through archaeological and ethnographical sections.

Stop At: Kwan Tee Street, Kwan Tee St, Port Louis, Mauritius
The Kwan Tee Pagoda is the oldest in the Southern Hemisphere and the oldest on the Island. Its construction and location reflects the principles of spirituality and is an oasis of peace & tranquility though located in the busy capital city of Port-Louis. The pagoda is nestled in a majestic piece of land with beautiful gardens full of coconut trees and a few seasonal fruit trees.

The market atmosphere will boast a local experience for visitors. It’s a fantastic day out for everyone where over 400 vendors sell all manner of goods and crafts, from organic fruits and vegetables to products from local farmers.
Our guide will take you in the labyrinth of alleyways and sidewalks where you can easily pick up a souvenir, treat yourself to some delicious street food and sip on an Alouda at one of the street-side vendors.

Tracing back its origins to middle 19th century, the Jummah Mosque is one of the oldest mosques in Mauritius and has been designed with a mix of Indian, Creole and Islamic architecture. Within the walls of the mosque, stands a majestically beautiful tree whose roots date back as far as the 1850s. One of the most culturally rich places in Mauritius is the China Town. Spreading over 500 metres of the Royal Road of Port Louis, the ChinaTown might not be as big as in other countries but it still does have a charm unique to it.
Walk along the road, visit the numerous shops selling splendid items originated from Chinese culture and have a delicious Chinese dish at any of the amazing restaurants present.

Stop At: Citadel Fort Adelaide, Port Louis, Mauritius
Constructed during the start of the 19th century, Fort Adelaide or Citadel as it is more commonly known, stands watch atop a hill overseeing the beautiful town of Port Louis. Constructed for the protection of the island from potential invaders as well as against any local uprising, Fort Adelaide is one of the best preserved forts on the island and offers a splendid panoramic view of Port Louis nestled at the foot of the Port Louis Moka range.

Tien Tan Pagoda is considered one of the most beautiful pagoda of Mauritius and is found on the slope of the Signal mountain. Constructed around the 1960s, the pagoda stands in a secluded and calm area of Port Louis city. It is frequently visited by Mauritians of Chinese origins and several tourists looking for some tranquility from the usual hustle and bustle in Mauritius.

Stop At: Marie Reine de la Paix, Mgr. Leen Street & Rue Desroches, Port Louis, Mauritius
Marie Reine de la Paix is a church in the open air providing a beautiful panoramic view of Port Louis. If you are able to muster up the courage to climb the 82 steps leading to the top, you will be rewarded with the most splendid view ever.
The charming open church is also the place where Pope Francis conducted the famous mass attended by over a 100 000 faithfuls during his apostolic visit to the paradisiac island in 2019.

The Place d’Armes is a square in Port Louis with a magnificent boulevard lined with palm trees leading up to the Government House, the most impressive colonial era building of the island. In front of the house, stands the majestic statue of Queen Victoria.
The place is truly beautiful and is worth a stroll and a few pictures.

Arguably the most popular place in the whole of Mauritius, Port Louis Waterfront is a must visit during your stay. Lined with a plethora of shops, this location is the perfect place to satisfy anyone’s shopping frenzy. Ranging from international luxury brands to local artisans, everything you might ever imagine is available here

Stop At: Albion Lighthouse, Albion, Mauritius
Located on the west coast of Mauritius, the lighthouse of Albion is an extremely popular destination amongst many tourists as well as locals. Although the lighthouse itself is not open to the public, it is still worthwhile to feast your eyes on one of the rare lighthouses on the island.
Several meters after the lighthouse, you will find a viewpoint over the sea to the left of Mauritius. Watch calmly as the strong waves hit the rocks and sprinkle fine drops of water all over the place. Spend a few minutes taking in the natural calm and serenity of the whole setting of this special place.
