What You Can Expect

Your driver guide picks you up in a comfortable minivan in Paris for the roughly 1.5-hour drive to Champagne, the region where the famous French bubbles are produced. On your way to the vineyards, enjoy croissants while your guide tells you about the amazing world of Champagne.
Begin with the visit to a prestigious Champagne house such as Moët and Chandon, Veuve Clicquot, or Mumm (depending on availability). Check out beautiful chalk cellars full of bottles, get lost in a maze of galleries, and enjoy a Champagne tasting at the end of your tour, by which time the mysterious méthode Champenoise will no longer be a secret to you.
Continue your day trip with a drive through the vineyards of the Montagne de Reims, Cote des Blancs, and Vallée de la Marne, between Reims, Ay, and Epernay. While you admire the scenic views, learn more about the three different Champagne grapes: chardonnay, pinot noir, and pinot meunier. Your next stop is a family-run winery where you'll have lunch (upon availability). Meet the winemaker and enjoy a meal of traditional food paired with a Champagne tasting.
After lunch, head to Hautvillers to visit its abbey and soak up the atmosphere of a typical French village, where Benedictine monk Dom Perignon made sparkling Champagne for the first time more than 300 years ago. Then visit a middle sized winery, and see a sabrage or a dégorgement à la volée (depending on availability). Enjoy a tasting of authentic Champagnes that you don't get the chance to enjoy outside of France.
Throughout your day trip, you'll listen to plenty of information about how Champagne is made. Hear about Blanc de Blancs and Blanc de Noirs. Find out how Champagne rosé is made. Discover if Grands Crus and Premiers Crus exist in Champagne. Find out if there is a specific Champagne terroir. Hear about the history of the Champagne region and how the coronation of French kings used to take place in Reims' Gothic cathedral.
Following your third tasting, your guide drives you back and drops you off in central Paris (Hôtel de Ville)

Chloe was an amazing guide. She provided a lot of general history and information, but also a lot of personal experience. There were so many interesting champagnes and lunch was divine.

Our guide, Victor, was absolutely outstanding: well spoken, knowledgeable, thoughtful - first class! He made the day for us. The House of Moet and Chandon was perfect and their guide, Eleanor was also very knowledgeable and thoughtful!! The two smaller champagne houses and our lunch were truly memorable. Actually one of the highlights of our trip (esp. since we had been on Viking cruise that did not cruise thus a huge disappointment). However that being said, the champagne tour was still a highlight and I would certainly recommend this tour to anyone interested in champagne!!

Richard was a very knowledgeable and accommodating host who guided us around Epernay for the day. Nothing was too much trouble and he was very good humoured. S.Andrews

This is probably the best tour I have ever been on. Richard was fantastic and so knowledgeable. Very well organized, great places to check out, a very nice lunch, and a visit to a cute shop to buy champagne for home.

Our guide/driver, Richard, was very very knowledgable and polite. He is a sommelier who knows his wine/champagne. The day began with him picking us up at 730a another family was with us in the bus so a small group. We visited 3 wineries and had a nice lunch at one of them. We discussed places for dinner once back in Paris.....RIchard was nice enough to drop us off at one of his favorite places, very nice! Thank for a nice day in the Champagne countryside Richard!
