We pre-booked the At the Top level 125 + 124 visit from the At the Top website. We decided to go for non-prime hours (which is anything outside of 1500-1830) as we thought it would be nice to go up at night and selected 2030 for our time. As others have said the entrance is extremely poorly signposted. We were lucky and having entered the mall via the lengthy walkway from the Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall metro station we happened to come across a lift that went to LG with signs for Burj Khalifa. After getting out of the lift there were further signs directing us through a carpark and back into the mall. The entrance is on the LG floor of Dubai Mall opposite the food court where thankfully we chose to have something to eat and drink before. We then arrived 15 minutes early as advised on the tickets to join quite a long queue. We were initially relieved that it was moving quite fast. However we soon realised that this was just the start of a very very long queue which went of for ages. Every time we thought we must be close we would go round a corner to find more queuing! We were in the queue for well over an hour and were completely fed up and exhausted by the time we got to the lift. Many others were clearly feeling the same with groups of people resorting to sitting down on the floor. Eventually we arrived at the lifts and got up to level 125 and 124. Here it was quite crowded but we did manage to get some good views, including watching the fountains from above which we had previously viewed from the lake cruise (a much better experience). However, not only were we exhausted from all the queueing we then saw the long queue of people waiting to get back down and so rather than spending the time we would have liked to enjoying the views we quickly bought some drinks and joined the queue to go down. Trying to get down was also complete chaos as there was a large crowd of people all trying to get into one line nearer the lift and progress seemed to be very slow. From what I could see there appeared to be 3 lifts which are dedicated to going up and down to and from level 124/125. However, after waiting around 45 minutes in the queue a member of staff started directing people through a door behind the shop to some other lifts, but rather than taking people who had been waiting for ages he decided to take a group who had just joined the back of the queue! This happened several times and eventually people started leaving the queue to join the people being taken via the alternative route as we also eventually did. We were then escorted down using smaller lifts which are clearly usually used for accessing other parts of the building and we actually had to get out part way and change lifts twice on the way down. Overall we spent about 15 minutes at the top and nearly 3 hours queuing/in lifts. I really don't see the point in them booking people into time slots if it is managed like this. I would certainly not wish to repeat the experience.

It was worth the 30 minute queue the lift was so fast it made my ears pop! The views are breaktaking and it was a clear sunny day for me. Photos don’t do it justice need to see it with your own eyes! It’s the matchbox cars below that give it perspective.
