Unfortunately our cruise ship was unable to dock in Port so sadly we were unable to do our trip. This was not due to any fault of the tour operator.

The seal family’s and the scenery and the history of Dunedin by the guide. The old railway station was also a pleasure if you like your architecture.

Due to extremely rough seas our ship could not stop at Dunedin. I couldn't get my phone to work on the ship for several days after the tour should have happened. When I asked for a refund La Vacanza Travel was so fast in crediting my credit card. They are an extremely well run and honest company. We've used them in Europe and the Mediterranean and now New Zealand and will continue to use their services on our next trip. THANK YOU VIATOR!

Chris picked us up on time from the cruise terminal at Port Chalmers. He turned off the main highway and took us along some very picturesque country lanes, something that would be impossible in a full size coach, and we entered Dunedin from the North. After a brief orientation tour of Dunedin, with stops at Baldwin Street (It’s amazing the lengths Kiwis will go to to reclaim a World Record 😁😁) and Dunedin Railway Station we headed off to the Otago Peninsula. Again, we left the main road and headed up into the hills where some spectacular views were experienced. The drive took us to Portobello. From Portobello we went cross country and along a dirt road to Hooper’s Inlet. This was the highlight of the tour. Sea Lion mothers lying on the edge of the water whilst their pups, six or seven, were having a great time frolicking with each other. The drive back to the cruise terminal was along the side of Otago Harbour. We were dropped off in Dunedin and after a wander around got the shuttle back to Port Chalmers. Chris was a fantastic driver/guide and his commentary was not only informative but entertaining as well. The mini coach, although not new, was comfortable.

Really lucky with the weather which helped. Great summary of the area, sites and history. The beach part was amazing, and we were lucky enough to see Sea Lions lazing on Allen’s Beach. Chris was very knowledgeable about all the wildlife too. Have to say it was the easiest port collection from the cruise. You’re pointed to a trip area, and your excursion is on a “departures board”, so you know you’re in the right place. Free wifi at the port too!
