Overview

Making a pot on the potter’s wheel is one of those ‘I’ve always wanted to do’ activities. This fun session offers the opportunity to do just that! Perfect for individuals, couples and small groups wanting to get creative with clay.
There are no mistakes in pottery – just happy accidents and learning experiences. The positive, inclusive nature of the instruction means everybody can join in the fun and achieve amazing results.
City breaks, rural retreats and weekends away are becoming increasingly popular with couples and individuals wanting to get away. If you ever have the good fortune to find yourself in the beautiful county of Herefordshire, make sure you don’t leave before making a pot on the wheel at Eastnor Pottery.
POTTERY is the traditional 9th wedding anniversary gift. Why not take it one step further and make each other a clay pot on the potter’s wheel to mark the occasion

Itinerary

Potter's wheel experience

Please allow 1.5hrs for your visit.

On arrival you'll be offered a warm welcome from either Jon or his wife and fellow maker Sarah.

Following an easy to follow, step by step demonstration, you will share a wheel between two, having two goes each. You’ll then be offered one of three choices:

1) The ‘green’ option. We’ll recycle your attempts so your clay can be enjoyed again and again by our lovely customers.

2) Select your favourite pot to take away, air-dry and paint at home.

3) For an additional £20 per pot we’ll fire and glaze your creation. If you go for option 3, your masterpiece will need to dry thoroughly before it goes in the kiln. It will be fired twice. This whole process takes about a month, after which we’ll contact you to let you know it’s ready for collection from the Pottery. P+P can be arranged at £5 per item.

Really enjoyed this session. It was great to watch and then have ago and then watch and have another go. Not nothing you would normally think of doing however definitely something worth doing even if it is to say you have done it. Jon and Sarah were very welcoming and patient. Great present and very different.

I really enjoyed my day. I am not 'physically' creative or at all competent and I made some wobbly pots. Jon and Sarah were both lovely and encouraging. I didn't go with the anticipation I'd take home anything usable or beautiful. My aim was to enjoy the experience of watching a competent potter at work, and of having clay on my hands. Mission achieved.

Me and my partner Sam had an amazing time on the induction to the potters wheel at Eastnor Pottery. The 1.5 hour experience was brilliant from start to finish - Sarah and Jon were engaging and supportive throughout, showing us the ropes, encouraging and guiding us through the process. We had lots of fun and love the pots we got to take home - the course has ignited our pottery passion and given us a new found respect and appreciation for all things ceramic! We'd highly recommend Eastnor Pottery to anyone wanting to learn a new skill.

Really well organised introduction to using a wheel, highly recommended, no hesitation in recommending Sarah and Jon have been doing this for years and know exactly when to step in and when to leave you to it
