Pass By: Piazza del Duomo, 50122 Firenze FI, Italy

Cupola which was designed and built by Filippo Brunelleschi has tight corridors to climb your way up (and down). This is because the workmen who built the cathedral for maintenance were never thought of as being open to the public.
On the dome's interior, you can admire Giorgio Vasari's frescoes of the Last Judgment (1572-9) up close with an interesting explanation of the frescoes on your way up to the top. Look down and on the base, just above the drum, you'll see that Baccio D'Angelo began adding a balcony in 1507 and how one of the eight sides was unfinished, and to this day the other seven sides remain rough brick!
Once you climb to the top of the Cupola, you will be enchanted by the panoramic view of the Florence city in front of your eyes.
After you visit the Cupola with your pre-reserved timed ticket, you have the chance to also visit the interior of the Santa Maria del Fiore Cathedral, and Santa Reparata and to climb Giotto's Bell Tower at your own pace and time.

Sylvia did a great job showing us the highlights from the bird’s eye view of Florence. The climb is a little strenuous and I wouldn’t recommend it for anyone out of shape. The inside of the church is huge but not that decorated, except for the dome which was an architectural marvel and amazing artwork at the time. So you definitely want to climb to the dome if you can and there were no signs explaining the art so Sylvia was clutch. There were some signs explaining the tools that were invented to build the dome, which r stored up near the top of the dome - quite impressive. The tour includes 72 hours to go climb the bell tower, go to the museum (stunning historical church doors and altars), and another church building - worth it if you want to see all that. So if you don’t want all that and can look up the dome artwork history while you wait in line (can be long), you can just buy tickets to what u want when you get there but the conveniences/tour guide explanations were worth it for us.

Our guide Illaria was great! Fun group! Not easy climbing to the top but views are well worth it! I highly recommend this tour!

Great tour. Ended up getting bumped in time but it worked out better than expected! They even gave us free vouchers for wine for moving the time. Tour guide was exceptional and knew a lot of history of the city and was able to answer most of my history buff husband’s questions. He was also able to talk the in-laws through the many steps to the top.

Walking up the dome was a great experience. There are almost 500 steps but totally worth the climb. We did have time to rest a few times going up while learning the history of the Cuploa Dome. The view from the top was spectacular! Getting a close-up view while climbing up of the interior dome artwork was amazing. And the ticket for the Dome gave us Free access to the museum and the church afterwords! Great tour!
