Neuschwanstein Castle Tour: (7 hours)Board your coach in central Frankfurt in the morning and travel roughly 262 miles (422 km) south to the enchanting Bavarian town of Füssen, located at the southernmost tip of Germany’s Romantic Road.
Füssen is home to one of Germany’s star attractions: Neuschwanstein Castle. Perched on a rocky hill, this fairy tale palace rises steeply above the village of Hohenschwangau, dominating the surrounding plains and Alpine foothills. You’ll understand immediately why Walt Disney used this royal castle as his inspiration for Sleeping Beauty.
Bypass the entrance lines and follow your guide on a narrated tour of the castle’s interior. Learn about Neuschwanstein’s creator, the shy and troubled King Ludwig II, who used the palace as his personal refuge during his turbulent reign. Neuschwanstein is by far the most distinctive of the king’s three Bavarian castles, built in classic Neo-Gothic Revival style. Its grandeur is simply breathtaking.
After your tour, make the most of some free time to stroll around the gardens, shop for souvenirs, grab lunch (own expense) and take photos against the stunning backdrop of the Bavarian mountains. Then, relax on your coach journey to your next destination: Rothenburg ob der Tauber.
Rothenburg ob der Tauber Tour: (7 hours)Situated high above the Tauber River Valley on the Romantic Road is Rothenburg, widely considered as the best-preserved medieval town in Germany.
Take a walking tour along the cobbled lanes lined with picturesque half-timbered houses. See the imposing city gates, Renaissance-era Town Hall and the marketplace while learning about Rothenburg’s history and architecture. Encircling the whole town is a walled fortification, still intact from hundreds of years ago.
At the end of the day, reconvene with your guide for your relaxing 2-hour journey back to Frankfurt.

This is a long day, but SO worth it! The castle is set amongst the German Alps and is unlike anything I’ve ever seen. Our guide was so friendly and knowledgeable too. There was only two of us so we got a private car instead of a bus. The ride on the Autobahn was awesome too! I wish the time in Rothenburg was a little longer. Highly recommend this tour though!

If you have a chance to book a private trip for 2, please do it!! Nothing like being driven on the Autobahn in a Mercedes.

I was in Frankfurt for business and decided to take this tour at the end of my stay. It is so worth the cost and is an amazing day! Our tour guide, Thomas, was extremely knowledgable and eager to share Germany with us. We had a group of 5 in a mini-bus. Rothenburg is so worth seeing and exploring - I wish we had more time there but we had to move on to make our tour at the castle. Approaching the castle was fantastic with a view of the Alps. Unfortunately, we experienced some heavy rain the moment we arrived. But there wasn't much to do but continue forth with our plans. So though we were cold and wet and had limited ability to take photos outdoors, this was a fantastic visit.

If you do this tour - bring snacks and water Thomas did have a sandwich for us but you need to be ready if that is not a common practice and wear sturdy shoes ! and if there is any chance of rain, bring proper attire and/or an umbrella. There is a lot of walking no matter how you cut it - the bus can only take you so far on the castle grounds. It's a long day so be prepared.

My sister, niece and I were just in Frankfurt a couple of weeks ago and the Neuschwanstein Castle was the top of our must see list! It is a bit of a drive but the time went by so fast thanks to our wonderful tour guide Jack! We stopped on the way to the beautiful Rothenburg at the Christmas Market for some shopping and pictures of the amazing architecture. On to Neuschwantein Castle which is like seeing a picture out of a fairy tale book. It is quite amazing and the village and location of the castle are equally beautiful. Since we were there in the winter there was some snow and a hike from the bottom of the drive to the top. They do have some horse drawn carriage rides to take you to the top but we walked. The actual tour of the castle isn't as long as we expected but it was well worth seeing. The whole tour would not have been near as enjoyable had we not had a wonderful guide. Jack is so knowledgeable and entertaining the trip went went by in a flash! If you are going to take this tour I highly recommend that you ask for Jack to be your guide.

This was a fantastic tour and I highly recommend it! Peter our tour guide was so professional and knowledgable about all the places we visited and he knew everything about everything and he was so informative. The German countryside is beautiful and our journey along the autobahn although very busy at the time was still well worth the ride! Our first stop in Rothenberg was lovely and it really is a beautiful town. We spent about an hour there which was fine by me as it still allowed us enough time to walk around and explore the town. The architecture and the well kept buildings are a must see! The castle was well maintained and the architecture and style of the building and everything with in is really quite amazing! I wanted to see a castle and Im glad I saw this castle! The tour was well worth it, it was a long day but all very manageable! The tour was well organised and again I cannot reiterate the professionalism and knowledge of our tour guide Peter! If he is guiding your tour you will be treated well! I would happily do another tour with him!
