The largest and most beautiful mosque ever built in Spain, a masterpiece of Islamic architecture.
The former capital of Al-Andalus during the Umayyad Caliphate, shows us as a legacy its great Mosque, ordered to be built by Abd Al-Rahman I at the end of the 8th century. The largest built in Spain and of singular beauty with its more than 1,000 columns.
The monument has never ceased to have a religious use, from a first Visigothic building (Basilica of San Vicente), the subsequent use as a mosque by the Muslims and since the Catholic Conquest in 1236 it has been used as a cathedral.
We will continue this private tour with our expert guide, walking through the neighborhood of the Jewish quarter, which preserves a synagogue of the fourteenth century, surrounded by charming traditional houses and beautiful patios planted with pots.
