Itinerary

Day 1: Port Arthur and Tassie Devils

Stop At: Tasman National Park, C344, Eaglehawk Neck, Tasmania TAS 7179, Australia
Travel with us from Hobart to the Tasman Peninsula, where the might of the Southern Ocean has carved spectacular caves and arches into solid rock. Meet Tassie’s coastline at its rugged finest. It’ll take your breath away.

Spend the morning walking along 300-metre-high clifftops, pausing at majestic lookouts to watch giant waves crash against dolerite spires. Visit Pirates Bay, Waterfall Bay, Tasman Arch and the famous Devil’s Kitchen, ticking all the best views off the list.

Duration: 1 hour

Stop At: Tasmanian Devil Unzoo, 5990 Arthur Hwy, Taranna, Tasmania 7180 Australia
The Tasmanian Devil Unzoo is up next. Tasmanian Devils are carnivorous marsupials that can only be found in Tasmania. They look like a small bear and are just as feisty, with one of the most powerful bites in the animal kingdom. You’ll get up close and personal with these iconic critters in a snarling feeding frenzy! You can also feed wallabies by hand, attend a Birds of the Bush presentation, and learn about local wildlife from the Unzoo’s passionate staff.
Duration: 2 hours

Stop At: Port Arthur Historic Site, Arthur Highway, Port Arthur, Tasmania 7182 Australia
Next stop is Port Arthur Historic Site, where impeccably preserved ruins offer a chilling glimpse of life as a Tasmanian convict. You will have around 2 hours exploring this World Heritage open air museum, including a complimentary harbour cruise around the Isle of the Dead and fascinating site talks.
Duration: 2 hours

Stop At: Richmond, Richmond, Clarence, Greater Hobart, Tasmania
Our last stop is the unmissable Richmond, a historic village filled with quaint stone buildings, ye olde lolly shops and Australia’s oldest bridge! This sandstone beauty was built by convicts and is thought to be haunted. You be the judge. A devilishly good day out.

There we walk to Wineglass Bay lookout, a moderate 45-minute hike that gets the heart pumping before revealing one of the best views in the Southern Hemisphere. Gaze out over treetops to a sweeping vista of white sand and turquoise water, soaking in the beauty of Wineglass Bay.
Depending on how active you’re feeling, you can extend your hike down to the beach for swimming, relaxing and dolphin spotting or return from the lookout with your guide to check out Honeymoon Bay, Sleepy Bay and Cape Tourville Lighthouse.

Duration: 2 hours

Stop At: Devil's Corner Cellar Door, Sherbourne Road, Apslawn, Tasmania 7190 Australia
The afternoon brings us to Devil’s Corner winery, perched high on a hill overlooking Freycinet. It’s the ideal place to kick back with a glass of wine, fresh seafood platter, woodfired pizza, tea, coffee or artisan gelato before ending our day in Launceston.

Day 3: Cradle Mountain National Park

Duration: 45 minutes

Stop At: Cradle Mountain-Lake St. Clair National Park, Cradle Mountain-Lake St. Clair National Park, Tasmania
Cradle Mountain’s jagged silhouette is unmistakable. Standing 1545 metres above sea level amongst glacial lakes, alpine moorland and World Heritage Listed wilderness, this iconic mountain is pure untamed Tassie. On this full day tour, you’ll score front row seats.

We begin our adventures with an easy guided walk to the stunning Pencil Pine Falls. A great introduction to the National Park. After that it’s onto our main walk of the day, Dove Lake Circuit, an easy 6km circumnavigation of the stunning lake that sits at the bottom of Cradle Mountain. The views are epic.
If you’re up for a challenge, tackle the hike to Marion’s Lookout. An uphill climb rewards you with breathtaking views of Cradle Mountain, Little Horn, Smithies Peak and so many mirrored lakes.

I really liked the tour cause it’s a good way to go around Tasmania without renting a car. On day two and three it takes more time to go to the nationalparks than staying there. That’s a bit sad but still worth it. The unzoo was a real highlight for me. Haven’t expected to ever recommend a zoo in my life. Apart from this you can also see a lot of wildlife like wild wombats!

This tour was awesome. Trevor the tour guide is an absolute legend. He is witty, knowledgeable, passionate and intelligent. His love for Tasmania is so evident in the way he talks about it. He has an incredible understanding of the natural environment, imparting his wisdom about flora and fauna. He is also well versed in environmental advancements taking place in Tasmania. He incorporated the history into the tour, acknowledging the atrocities like the killing of the aboriginal people when settlers arrived. He incorporated the traditional names of Hobart/Nipaluna and Mt Wellington/kunanyi. Trevor made this tour so special and I hope you have the pleasure of touring with him too. My only feedback is - don't expect a 3 day tour with a group who you would get to know. Only a few of us did all 3 days, others were doing individual days of the tour - so maybe not so good if you're solo traveling and looking to make connections.

All the tour guides (Trevor, Nick, and Graham) were very knowledgeable of the history and current affairs of each area and provided great information. The tour was better than expected and I would definitely recommend for all wanting to experience a great introduction to Tasmania!
