Thanks a lot to Stephanie, a wonderful guide who knows Hong Kong very well as she has been living here since more than 15 years! I highly recommend!
Excellent, informative tour of HK Island (Central and Sheung Wan mostly). Lots of anecdotes on HK culture and history during the tour (Man Mo Temple, Chinese medecine shops, main HK colonial sites, etc)
Fantastic and insightful walk that centred on Kowloon Walked City (it’s now a park). Highly recommended. Highly informative tour guide. Loved it.
We thoroughly enjoyed touring with Alex. We learned so much about Hong Kong’s history from the opium wars to the handover to China in 1997 and the background to the demonstrations taking place now. We visited Statue Square and went into the HSBS, (Hong Kong Shanghai Banking Corporation), building, saw the old and new Bank of China, Jardine House etc. While there, Alex told us all about the principles of Feng Shui and how those principles influenced the design and structure of these buildings. Fascinating to learn about! We took the tram to the old town of Sheung wan. We walked to Hollywood Road and the Man Mo temple We had the most wonderful time exploring and learning about the history, buildings, religion, customs, and medicine of the area. Alex has superb knowledge of Hong Kong and was the most friendly and delightful guide. We would absolutely recommend Alex and Hong Kong a la Carte : Private and Bespoke Tours to anyone visiting Hong Kong.
I truly enjoyed touring with Alexandra! She made my first visit to Hong Kong extremely memorable. I had a 8hr layover in Hong Kong and was told Alex is the best, by American Express travel and from other notable sources. Alexandra texted me the day before with instructions on where to meet her in the airport. I checked in one of my larger handbags in the airport storage area near terminal 2 (in case you guys have extra luggage you don’t want to tote around, this is a great idea) and met Alexandra. The beautiful thing about touring with Alex is that she has lived in Hong Kong 20+ years and will FULLY customize a tour for you depending on your interests. I wanted to see the Hong Kong Sky Scraper Skyline, a temple and get a chance to go shopping for beauty products, clothes and souvenirs. We did exactly that and more! From the airport I took the Airport Express Train to Central on Hong Kong Island.During the journey, Alex told me about Hong Kong's history from the opium wars to the handover to China in 1997. We also talked about the protests that are currently taking place in Hong Kong. Once in Central, we walked to Statue Square where Alex showed me some of Hong Kong’s landmarks (HSBC, Bank of China, Jardine House, IFC) and where introduced me to the Feng Shui principles. We then walked through Central to reach Hollywood Road. On the way we went to the “Lanes”, home to Hong Kong’s famous street markets, to Vicky’s shoes, went up Pottinger Street, tasted mango tea and bought moon cakes for my friends. We then walked to Man Mo temple where I was able to pray with intents sticks and play with the Kau Cim sticks and Buddha’s lips. Later We went to Lascar Row in order to purchase lucky charm. After lunch at Yum Cha, we walked to the Star Ferry in order to cross the harbour. In Tsim Sha Tsui, on Kowloon side I was able to purchase a few beauty products at Sasa before heading back to the airport. Thank you so much Alex for such an insightful tour, I learned so much in 5hrs about Hong Kong’s history and was delighted to try some great food dishes as well. My favorite part of the tour was going to a temple in the city and learning from Alex the customary processes of making offerings to the Gods and reading your fortunes. I was able to see how locals in the area burn incense to send a prayer and other important practices. I would highly recommend Alex as a tour guide, because she is extremely knowledgeable of all aspects of Hong Kong’s social, political and economic history. Unlike most cookie cutter tours, she offer customizable tours where she asks specifically what your interests are and offers a variety of options for you to tour. She also offers to take a lot of photos for you. Oh and did I mention she speaks French, that’s a plus for French speakers. She is punctual, accommodating and always aware of her clients needs. Thank you again Alex! I will definitely come back to Hong Kong and will absolutely have to book another tour with you! What a treat!
