What You Can Expect

Meet your guide and small group in the afternoon at a designated place on Queen’s Road Central, located in Hong Kong’s thriving business district. Then follow your guide on a foodie adventure through the alleyways of Central and its neighbor Sheung Wan, visiting six family-run hot spots – from a noodle shop to a local bakery – for tastings both savory and sweet! (Please note: All food venues are subject to change.)
Begin your culinary walking tour with a stop at a wonton noodle shop, an award-winning family restaurant started by the grandfather of a brother-sister team. Savor delicious wontons with noodles and intensely flavored broth before moving on to a restaurant specializing in roasted meat. Here, taste a bowl of succulent roast meat rice and learn how the owner of more than 30 years has perfected the juicy meat. Continue to one of the neighborhood’s oldest shops to gulp a refreshing glass of juice, containing elements that balance the delightful flavors on your food tour.
Next, follow your guide to one of Hong Kong’s greatest hidden treasures – a private tea house, set in a Chinese courtyard. Sip a handpicked selection of high-quality cha (tea), meant to aid with digestion. As you meander with your guide from one tasting location to another, walk through an open market, where you can watch how the locals bargain over fresh fish.

At Dim Sum corner, where you’ll find siblings, in-laws, nieces and nephews all helping out with the family-run business, sample a selection of dim sum and you’ll want to come back for more. Finally, your guide will lead your small group down a side alley to check out a little bakery where you can relish your dessert – freshly baked tarts still hot from the oven – yum!
Throughout your culinary and cultural tour, your local guide – a food connoisseur – will lead you past beautiful colonial architecture in the business district, and share interesting facts and anecdotes about Central and Sheung Wan. Learn about Hong Kong’s food culture and food industry, as well as its cultural heritage, living conditions and history of development.
After visiting several hidden gems of this commercial area – far from the busy shopping malls and typical sightseeing spots – you’ll gain new insight into Hong Kong. At the end of your tour, your guide will help you with directions to get back to the starting location or point you to the Sheung Wan MTR station.

We took this tour on our 2nd day in Hong Kong. We loved it. We had wonderful food, walked thru the street market and went to the candy store for dessert. She taught us about her culture. I just love food tours. This one was great.

We enjoyed the tour with Lilian very much. She was delightful and well informed not only about the interesting foodie places we visited but about the historic parts of Hong Kong we walked through and she took time to answer our questions. If we were back in HK we should certainly visit the noodle shop and the pastry shop again!! The sugar cane juice/herbal tea shop was unusual as was the preserved fruits and the dim sum pork dumplings were not surpassed anywhere. She also knows the source of the best egg tarts in HK! No need to take water as Lilian provided it. Wear comfortable walking shoes. Take a good appetite!!
