It was a fantastic day, the highlight being the attention to detail of my guide. I was incredibly lucky to have booked a tour during the winter time and I was the only guest. With this in mind, Victor made the day extra special by accomodating my wish to visit other places including the viewing point and folk museum.
My trip began the day before when I was asked what music I like and whether I prefer tea or coffee. This care and attention continued and I was made to feel quite special during the trip, when I was treated to a little picnic on the beach with home made Blinis and Lingonberry Syrup.
I enjoyed my personal tour from my hotel in Irkutsk to the churches and local sites: Victor helped me to undersrand the traditions and explained about the history and people of the region.
I didn't notice the time fly or the distance to and from Lake Baikal as we chatted and stopped at several places enroute.
The pinacle for me was the lake with its beautiful backdrop of snow, hills and woodland which I saw from the Chertsey point and the shoreline.
I was also taken to the market where Victor guided me on what to do to ensure I got the best quality produce, for the best price.
I truly had a wonderful day and I would return to do another trip with Victor once the lake has frozen or during the summer so I can take in the many facets of the lake and the area.
