Olkhon is the largest island in Baikal Region. Many myths, mysteries are associated with this island.

A population of the Island is about 2000 people. Majority of the population is the Buryats. The Buryats since ancient times were shamanists, and Olkhon is considered as the father of all shamans and the main sanctuary and a religious center. Olkhon has a supernatural power that’s why a lot of shamans from the whole world come here to pray or do rituals.

During this tour, you will get acquainted with the history of Buryat people, taste local cuisine, visit holy places. You will have an opportunity to explore the Island, certainly to swim enough in the lake and sunbathe on Baikal beach, and to see the most famous place - Cape Khoboy.

Day 1: Irkutsk - Olkhon Island (Khuzhir village)

Stop At: Cape Burkhan/Shamanka Rock, Western bank of Olkhon island, Olkhon Island 666137 Russia
During the way to Olkhon Island (3 hours) we will meet the following sights:
1) Ust-Orda village with its famous monument "Gesser" - Buryat hero
2) Bayandai village is a typical Buryat village
3) The border of the Olkhon region (we will stop there to "poburhanit", that means pay tribute to the spirits of this land)
4) Elantsy village is the capital of the Olkhon region. If someone is hungry, we will stop here and eat in a Buryat cafe.
5) Sakhurta is the extreme mainland village.
6) Khuzhir village - capital of Olkhon Island.

Today we will walk around Khuzhir. The main sights of Khuzhir are Shamanka rock and "Serge" pillars. During our walk also we will see a post office, rural shops, a wooden school, hospital and various guest houses. Usually we come to the Shamanka rock at the time of sunset, so be ready for your awesome photos.

After walk, we return to the guest house, where dinner awaits us. After dinner, optionally we can book Russian banya (sauna), or go to rest for tomorrow.

Day 2: Olkhon Island (Khuzhir village) - Cape Khoboy - Irkutsk

Stop At: Khoboy, Irkutsk Oblast, Russia, 666137
Breakfast at 8 am. At 9 am our driver for today excursion will wait us with a special "Olkhon" off-road vehicle - UAZ "Bukhanka". And we will begin our excursion to Cape Khoboy - the most northern point of Olkhon, where you will see open Baikal. Khoboy translates as a fang of the beast from Buryat language. On the way to Cape Khoboy we will have 5 stops:
1) Kharantsy village, where we will see the local Lion and Crocodile. After Kharantsy the territory of the national park begins.
2) Land "Sandy", with abandoned barracks for prisoners.
3) Cape "Three Brothers"
4) Cape Khoboy. During the stop at Cape Khoboy, our driver will prepare for us a lunch from fresh omul.
5) Cape Shuntai or Cape of Love, where we can make wishes by throwing a stone in the open Baikal.
6) Meteorological station "Uzury", where only one family lives and they also work at this station and measure the air temperature and earthquakes.
After we return to Khuzhir. Check-out. Return to Irkutsk.
