Itinerary
This is the same place as Discover Istanbul and Turkey with Serif Yenen and Team.
Watch as the instructor creates marbled patterns using color pigments, oily water and paper, as you learn about the history of the art form. The technique has UNESCO World Heritage Intangible Cultural Heritage status, having been used by Seljuk and Ottoman artists to decorate Imperial documents. Today, it is mostly used as a background for calligraphy and to decorate the insides of book covers.
Experiment and produce your own marbled effects using the supplied tools. Have fun developing your skills and learn the secrets to make richer and more intricate patterns.
Break for tea, coffee and cookies, and then develop your work as your 2-hour workshop progresses. After your class, take home your own unique pieces of art as mementos to display at home.
