The route for this Istanbul market tour draws from the Culinary Backstreets best-of lists in the European side’s Karaköy neighborhood and the Asian side’s Kadıköy, tied together by a Bosphorus crossing.

Duration: 30 minutes

Stop At: Bosphorus Strait, Istanbul 34122 Turkiye

We’ll hop the boat to Kadıköy on the Asian side and eat our way through that neighborhood’s market, which holds the highest concentration of traditional food shops and eateries in the city.

Stop At: Kadikoy Carsisi, Caferaga Mahallesi Kadikoy, Istanbul Turkiye

    With only two-and-a-half days in the city, we hoped that Culinary Tours would give us a taste of Istanbul that would be hard to find for ourselves, and we were not wrong. It was the best thing we could have done on our schedule and every family member (from 15 to 53 years old) agreed it was their favourite day. Esin was an amazing tour guide and shared with us her love of Istanbul and her wonderful friendships with the producers we visited - what a gift. Can't recommend Esin, the tour and the city enough. Just book it.

    Our guide, Katerina, started off by meandering through a marine- focused neighborhood and bringing us to a caravanserai where we were offered tea and a treat of clotted butter and honey on bread. Wow! We then made stop after stop at small cafes, groceries, food stores. An incredible day and introduction to Istanbul. Booked a second tour!

    It was truly a backstreet experience with authentic flavors and a peek into local culture and daily living. We toured with Esin as our guide, and we absolutely had an amazing experience!     We had a great time on this tour. Our guide Ugur was friendly and knowledgeable and guided us through lots of hidden gems of eateries on both sides of the Bosporus. Would definitely recommend if you’re looking for a food tour in Istanbul!

    This all-day food tour was the perfect introduction to Istanbul’s culture, foods, and neighborhoods.
