Vaikom Sree Mahadeva Temple, one of the oldest temples in Kerala, the presiding deity is Lord Shiva. The temple annually celebrates Ashtami (Vaikathashtami) in a very elaborate way which usually falls in November/December. It is one of the few temples which is held in reverence by both Shaivaites and the Vaishnavaites
