The main reason for us to book the tour is to visit orangutang sanctuary. It did not disappoint. It is located on the shores of a small lake. We took the first boat there at 9:45. Be there 15-20 min in advance as there is only one boat shuttling between the shore and the sanctuary. If there is a big tourist group in front of you, you may be out of luck getting the seats at the last moment. One hour is enough in the sanctuary. We observed 6-8 apes, many small monkeys living in harmony with the giants, etc. The next stop is Perak Tong Cave temple – a Chinese temple built inside the large cave. It is active with many religious sculptures and spots for prayer. There is about 500 steps concrete stair going to the top of the hill where there are few traditional Chinese pavilions. They offer 360 view of the town below and the forestry hills surrounding the city of Ipoh. Visiting Ipoh includes walking a short narrow Concubine Lane Street. These days it is a typical endless row of small shops and eateries. There are few more spots in town. In my view it is nothing special. So, overall I liked the trip. The driver/guide was excellent. Please be aware that the sanctuary is 300km north of Kuala Lumpur. Be prepared for a very long day with the majority of time spent in the car. Typically it is 12 hours. If you are unlucky like us to encounter post holiday weekend traffic it is way longer.

I live in the US and the flight is over 22 hours to get to Malaysia. I thought this excursion would showcase a variety of sites in Malaysia for me and my daughter to see. The driver was nice, however, he kept asking us to go eat breakfast and we missed the 1st boat excursion. After the visit to Orang Utan, our driver took us back to the hotel. It's a 4 hour drive to get to Orang Utan. The excursion listed 7 places and the trip must consist of 4 people. That was falsely advertise. It was only my daughter and I. DO NOT go to this excursion. It's a scam. If all possible, REFUND ME please!!

Long day, but saw a lot of things. Some nice scenery at some points along the way. Saw 6 orangutans and a baby. Enjoyed the caves on the tour. Ipoh wasn’t really great to see. Could have skipped that. Overall good tour but is 12 + hours pending traffic.

Seeing the traumatized orangutans being well taken care of in their secure enclosed environment. They are free to roam and secure their own turf.
