We had a lovely Saturday evening on the Uluwatu Temple and Kecak Fire Dance Tour. Ghali, our friendly guide met us on time at our Nusa Dua hotel lobby and provided us with a bottle of water. He informed us of what to expect and about the significance of Uluwatu Temple. Saturday afternoon the roads were rather quiet, and Ghali asked if we were interested in tasting coffee at the Bukit Sari Balinese Coffee House. It was interesting to see the luwak and how the Indonesians process the famous luwak coffee. We sat for fifteen minutes sipping a range of Balinese teas and coffees which was free, but this was followed by browsing the coffee shop. Warning, the fixed prices of the packaged coffee here are double or triple the cost of coffee sold in Australia. Uluwatu was already busy by the time we arrived, but we managed to find a car park. Ghali explained the importance of wearing the sarong, fetched the entry tickets, protected us from the sneaky monkeys, was helpful in taking photos of us, led us to the entrance of the outdoor theatre and provided a paper summary of the show’s story. The Kecak Fire Dance was an amazing dance-drama-musical and different to the usual Balinese dancing. Whilst the sunset was lovely it was rather hot on the people facing it. We choose seats with our backs to the sun. At Uluwatu, there are small shops for food and drink and an ATM. Ghali was very accommodating to our needs, and we enjoyed sharing information about our cultures whilst returning to our hotel.

Kecak Fire Dance and the sunset at the pura luhur uluwatu are something I would highly recommend for those visiting Bali, Uluwatu. Tour guide arranged by Adie whose name is Komang Dedy (he freelances as a tour guide but mostly works for Adie) was terrific as he provided necessary details to where we were heading and what to be expected.
