If you go to Lombok you must go to Mt. Rinjani! It is not an easy trek, but you can choose different options of length, starting from 2D1N and you can get only to the crater rim or up to the top. I did the first and was exhausted, but regretted not getting to the very top. Reza trekker was great in organizing everything from the start. We exchanged a few email months before my arrival and he was really quick in answering all my questions in a very good english. He didn't ask for a deposit, but we finalized the payment once I got there. He sent a driver to pick me up at the airport, organized for my night stay before the trek, gave me a guide to go to the falls while I was waiting in the afternoon and everything I needed for the trek. Both the porter and guide did an excellent job and took great care of me in those two days. The tour was a bit expensive for me as a single traveller, but everything had to be provided for one person only, it's true. The one thing that I didn't like was to be kept waiting for two hours after the trek before being accompanied to my next destination. However, all in all it was a very good experience and the company offered a good service.

To be honest, I didn't give high expectation to any agent in Indonesia due to previous experience. However, Reza Trekker is unbelievably amazing! The owner Jamal gave us an reasonable price for 3D2N trekking to Rinjani summit. Because the difficulty to pay deposit( I booked the trekking way earlier), he didn't insist on that and everything just verbally agreed. The driver showed up on time to pick us from airport and drove us to office for the briefing. After that fetch us to hotel and Jamal even arranged a guide to bring us to waterfall the day before trekking. Everything was just well-arranged. I have to mention our guide Karim, the best guide I ever had before! He is very patient and considerable. When hiking up to summit, he held my friend's hand and encouraged her to take her own pace without rush. Without him, my friend couldn't make it to the summit. When we were walking down to the lake, he noticed that I was having a hard time to walk due to exhaustion and feet pain and the trail was so steep and dangerous. So he offered to help my carry my backpack. Besides, He was very familiar with the area and flexible with the plan. When he found we were behind the schedule, he changed the camping place from Crater Rim 2 to another place, so that we could rest more on the second day and prepare for the last descending day. In terms of meal, Karim cooked delicious food for us, and two porters (sorry I didn't get their name) even carried fruits, like watermelon and honey dew for all the way, which were insanely heavy! Another thing to highlight is that Karim them never threw the rubbish. They just kept the plastic and empty bottles with them. We really appreciate all the staff in Reza Trekker!

It definitely was not an easy trek; which makes your guide an important person for this activity. Karim from Reza Trekker was professional and patient. As 1 of us was falling behind, Karim stayed with the slowest to encourage and assist. He said "it is okay to go slow, just go at a pace that you are comfortable with; it is better than not completing it at all" Karim even helped her with her daypack (like her personal porter) ; throughout the entire trek ! He also held my hand when decsending from the summit since I could not stop falling. By the final day, which is the day of descent, he was holding 2 daypacks instead of just 1 since he noticed that I turned pale and wasn't not feeling well. Karim also took the initiative to feed us snacks and water during breaks to ensure that we are well hydrated and energized to move on. Thank you to Karim and Team Porters for carrying all our barangs and making sure that we are well fed. It felt like they were feeding an entire village at each meals when there were just the 4 of us. There were fried rice, chicken curry, noodles, vegetables, fried chicken, sandwich, fried potato, fried bananas, apples, oranges, melons, coke, spirit, pocari sweat, coffee, tea ....... gosh the list can go on. Thank you for setting up the tents to hide from the chilly nights at the crater rim, and the toilet tent that everyone else tried to use as well. Karim also make sure that nothing non-biodegradable were left on the volcano. All rubbish were carried down. Thank you Jamal for prompt correspondences and arranging the logistics - from picking us up at the airport - waterfall visits - a night stay at Restu by Views - transport from Sembulan instead of Senaru when the team of us concluded that we will not be able to make the descend to the crater lake after the completion of the summit - Transport to Gili - Buying the tickets for boat to Gili. We would not have made it to the summit without you guys. Thank you Reza Trekker ! will definitely recommend to book with them !

I booked my trek with Reza Trekker, a company which already comes highly recommended. From the moment I inquired about the trek till after I finished it and was transferred to my accommodation, I felt looked after. The communication was great; Jamal, the owner, was very helpful and informative. The trek itself: one of the hardest I've ever done (that depends on personal experience though), but by all means one of the most rewarding. I chose the 3days/2nights option. On the first day we were picked up from our hotels and transferred to the trek start. We climbed up to 2600m where (by the time we got there), the porters started setting the camp. Crater time: What a location for a camp! We tried to have as much rest as possible as the next day was the hardest one. It started at 2am with a walk up the Mt Rinjani. Like a long snake (created from head torches) we slowly made our way up, just in time for the sun rise. The views were breathtaking and we all soon forgot about the tiredness. Be aware: once you stop on the top, you will start feeling very cold very quickly. The temperature drops quite low at that altitude (quite a shock after days of sweating in 30C+ temperatures and humidity), so make sure you are wrapped up! The coming down was much quicker but very gravely, so we were sliding a lot!! Be careful. Our guide Hamdi was fantastic. Always there to help, if help was needed; always trying to give us interesting facts about life in Lombok, always telling us stories, always smiling and looking after the group. His English is really good; one of the best English speaking Indonesians I met in Lombok and Bali. We also had a fantastic team of porters. These guys are beyond incredible: they carried our tents, sleeping bags, food, cutlery, cooking pans, water, etc and they did it walking either in flip flops or barefoot! It's a hard job, I really admire these guys. On top of that they always smiled and were up for a good laugh. The food was great: freshly prepared, different every day. I would definitely recommend using Reza Trekker
