Enjoy a hands-on cooking experience with this 5-hour class in Lucca. Join Chef Giuseppe - a veteran of cooking classes in Italy, the US, Canada, the Caribbean, and Mexico - for a shopping trip at the market to purchase ingredients. Sample some Tuscan specialties and prosecco. Prepare a 4-course meal, which you'll eat at the end of class.

As Giuseppe is a member of the Italian Sommelier Association, great care is taken to source and feature smaller producers and unusual varieties from the region. If you are passionate about wine, participating in a cooking class with a chef who is also a sommelier, is a great way to experience all the flavours of the region!

What Can You Expect?

Shops and Markets along the way to the palazzo where the cooking class is held. We visit historic bakeries, pastry and cheese shops, and an amazing fruit and vegetable vendor.

This class is a must do if you are in Lucca and you love to cook or are looking to learn more about the city and pick up new cooking skills. First of all the walking portion of the class was great and we got to see a few culinary gems in Lucca before heading to Giuseppe‘s apartment. The apartment itself is beautiful and more over Giuseppe is so welcoming and has a great personality. Our group was also great and this was such a fun activity to do with my mom- we had a variety of age ranges in our group; from 15 to 87, so this cooking class is a fantastic option for the young and young at heart :) Giuseppe managed to provide a lot of one on one interaction and engage the entire class throughout. I learned so many new cooking skills and recipes in this class, and would recommend it to any and everyone who visits. I cant wait to return to Italy and take another cooking class.

Giuseppe really knows how to entertain and instruct. We learned not only the specifics of the meal that our class prepared cooperatively, but also background information about the most critical ingredients that comprise true Tuscan cooking - olive oil, cheese, fresh vegetables, wine, etc. I signed up for the class by myself and was happy to be put in a class with 7 other perfectly lovely strangers, and we bonded quickly. Giuseppe packed a lot of activity into a short amount of time. He strategically pre-prepared a number of the ingredients that would otherwise take away too much time from the class thus maximizing time for learning. It's obvious that he has listened to his students and has continuously improved his sessions because it seems he's thought of every detail. He even provides a copy of his own recipe book and a list of his favorite Lucca restaurants to guests.

A local and personal experience. Giuseppe provided us with a tour of the best local providers of specialty Luccese food in the inner city. We then proceeded to cook the food in a beautiful setting within his apartment. The five hour session was complimented with tastings of local olive oils, cheeses, accompaniments and wine. It was unhurried and he was happy to share his expertise and answer our questions. Giuseppe was cheerful and kind throughout. Attentive to special dietary requests.

Giuseppe’s Extra Virgin Cooking Class was fantastic. We also made some gorgeous new friends from UK. I highly recommend anyone to do this class. 10/10

A fantastic day cooking and tasting Lucca’s finest food. Giuseppe is a brilliant host. We were made to feel so welcome in his home. We cooked in his kitchen and dined at a table that was set beautifully. Well worth it.
