Overview

Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza is a must see in Madrid. It is one of the most relevant museums in the city, in the country and in the world.

Its impressive art collection mesmerizes all types of public, and that is due to its catalogue of about 1,000 works on display that range from ancient painting of the 13th century to the avant-gardes of the 20th century.

The collection includes great artists such as Titian, Rubens, Rembrandt, Caravaggio, Manet, Renoir, Van Gogh, Gauguin, Kandinsky, Hopper or Picasso.

Besides this, the museum schedules important temporary exhibitions that play a major role within the cultural agenda of the city. It also offers many activities for all audiences, and most especially for young people: concerts, cinema, workshops and conferences, among others.

Lastly, the Museum Shop, with an independent access, is an elegant space with exclusive items inspired by some works of art, created by well-known artists and designers as well as by local artisans.

A relaxing visit with not too much congestion in any of the galleries. Interesting time span of work from Old Masters to modern day. Disappointed that a print of La Quinta Avienda en Washington Square was not available in poster size but bought a smaller one.

Shameful about the bad customer service today. I'm an avid art lover whose been to museums all over the world and am yet to find staff that were so abrupt towards me and my toddler daughter today when all we wanted was to enjoy the collection... From the start the experience went off on the wrong foot as they started to bark commands at me in Spanish saying my daughter is not allowed to drink from her water bottle ( she wasn't drinking I just had her bottle in the back pack). Then giving us nasty looks in each room we entered even though she was just seated in the pram doing nothing! To then barking orders at e again when I had the backpack om my back! Do you act as if toddlers cannot breathe in this museum ??? Try to make it more family friendly and take a note from British museums and the national galleries and elsewhere aound the world. Absolutely no consideration for little ones or anything for them to be entertained by. If there were zero starts I would have chosen that.

A fantastic museum featuring an extensive collection of art spanning from modern to classic pieces. The museum offers a diverse range of artworks and boasts a rich history. Notably, there was a captivating exhibition on Picasso that was truly enjoyable. Visitors can appreciate the art up close, and the presence of QR codes provides detailed explanations for each painting, enhancing the overall experience.

Did not plan to go to this museum; however it was included in my 3 museum pass with Reina Sophia and Prado. I did all three in one day, and ended with Thyssen-Bornemisza. I am SO GLAD I took the time to go to this museum. A stunning amount of variety in one museum that was beautifully put together. I loved the layout. The gift shop was also very fun.
