Overview

There’s an old Welsh saying; “the best shortage is a shortage of words”.

And we can understand why.

Because when you travel through Snowdonia, the beautiful mountains leave you speechless. The Welsh castles’ battle-torn passageways are simply indescribable. And a lot of the destinations are as unpronounceable as they’re unbelievable.

So, on this trip, we let you discover the elusive beauty of Wales.

You enjoy the poetic landscapes and harbour towns that inspired Dylan Thomas, you venture through the inexpressibly beautiful valleys of two of Wales’ famous national parks, and you take in the history of Chester, an English town that sits by the border.

Let the sights speak for themselves and join our tour of North Wales and Chester.

Itinerary

Day 1: Manchester - Conwy - Anglesey - Beaumaris

Stop At: Conwy Castle, Coast Rd - A55, Conwy LL32 8AY Wales
Set near an impressive pair of bridges, this brilliantly preserved 13th-century fortress is a visual treat.
Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes

Stop At: Anglesey, Anglesey, North Wales, Wales
After you’ve soaked up the sea air, you cross the world’s first modern day suspension bridge across the Menai Straits and onto Anglesey Island. Prior to its construction, cattle farmers would have to persuade their herd to swim across the Menai Straits on their way to market. We head for the most westerly point of North Wales to marvel at the South Stack Lighthouse, sea cliffs, and nature reserve.
Duration: 2 hours

Stop At: Beaumaris, Beaumaris, Anglesey, North Wales, Wales
You stop in the lovely seaside town of Beaumaris, and also visit the town of Llanfairpwllgwyngyll for a quick photo stop.
Duration: 45 minutes

No meals included on this day.
Accommodation included: Overnight in Llandudno

Day 2: Llandudno - Betws-y-Coed - Harlech Castle - Portmeirion

Stop At: Betws-y-Coed, Betws-y-Coed, Snowdonia-Eryri National Park, North Wales, Wales
This morning when you head off, your first stop is to Betws-y-Coed. This beautiful little village is known as the gateway to Snowdonia National Park.

Duration: 40 minutes

Stop At: Harlech Castle, Castle Square, Snowdonia-Eryri National Park, Harlech LL46 2YH Wales
Next, sit back and watch Snowdonia’s mountains fly by as you continue onto Harlech Castle. This is one of our favourite castles in the whole of the UK. It boasts epic sea views and an amazingly war-torn history that involves a lot of dynamite.
Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes

Stop At: Portmeirion, Portmeirion, Gwynedd, North Wales, Wales
You then venture to one of the most charming and unique villages in Wales, Portmeirion. This town is the brainchild of Welsh architect Clough Williams-Ellis. He wanted to demonstrate how a naturally beautiful location could be developed without spoiling it. The result is a stunning piece of the Mediterranean transported into North Wales. You have free time here to explore and grab a bite to eat.
Duration: 3 hours

No meals included on this day.
Accommodation included: Overnight in Llandudno

Day 3: Harlech Castle - Chester - Manchester

Stop At: National Slate Museum, Gilfach Ddu Country Park Padarn Country Park, Llanberis, Snowdonia-Eryri National Park LL55 4TY Wales

For your lunch stop today, we head to Llangollen. Situated along the River Dee, this little town will steal your heart.
Duration: 1 hour 45 minutes

Stop At: Chester, Chester, Cheshire, England
Next you’re off to one of England’s most historic towns, Chester. There’s a lot to do here, but we’d advise you just head to the Cathedral, you could spend a whole week in this fine building and not get bored.

Darren, tour guide and van driver, was entertaining, kind, funny, knowledgeable. Llandudno was an excellent choice for lodging and restaurants.

Stewart was a highlight and a pleasure to have on his maiden trip with the company. He has so much energy it’s infectious. Great way to see a lot of wales in a short period of time. Chester was a highlight. My only feedback was I didn’t enjoy portmerrion particularly bc it was a separate cost to enter and was not worth it IMO. Otherwise perfect tour. Thank you !

If you want to visit many castles, this is the tour. Darren, our tour guide, had an impressive knowledge of the country and the sites. And the sheep...wow, they are everywhere. A caution for those with limited mobility - there were great distances to walk from the drop off point to the main attractions in some towns, often up steep inclines and cobbled streets, making it hard for those with limited mobility. We called a cab a few times to get back to the van on time.
