Overview

On this food tour we visit not one but two of Manchester's most vibrant areas. You will hear the fascinating history of Manchester and it's people.

From the golden age of the Industrial revolution to the ultra cool and trendy city of today. On the tour we'll visit some of the city's most famous eating places and also some of our secret spots. Each place we visit has a special dish that tells a story of Manchester.

You'll get to meet some of our chefs, bakers and producers. Our mission is to showcase our food heroes and introduce you to a side of Manchester you may never have seen or heard of before.

Ancoats became the world's first industrial suburb at the end of the 18th century. It was the beating heart of the British empire's Industrial revolution.
Now the area has been voted one of the top places to live in the world. Old mills have been restored and converted into flashy apartments. The area is full of bars, restaurants, deli's and producers. Making it the perfect place for a food tour.
During our walk around Ancoats and the Northern Quarter we'll share stories about the area's incredible history. From the criminals who ruled the streets to the weird and wonderful events that have shaped the city.
We'll be visiting 6 locally run, independent food vendors during the tour, enjoying amazing flavours and tastes representing the communities and stories of Manchester.
From music to football, industry to activism. The story of Manchester has it all. We'll share these tales as we take you through the backstreets of our city.
Visiting hidden gems and places that locals have loved for years.
Fascinating history, amusing anecdotes and amazing food all star on our 3.5 hour food tour.

Julia was a great tour guide! It was the perfect balance between food and history of the city. Julia gave us great recommendations for where to eat and go for the rest of our visit!

What an amazing walking tour with great food stops. I’m glad we didn’t have anything to eat before the tour as there is a lot of yummy filling food along the way. Our tour guide David was very informative and enaging at all times. As a first timer to Manchester I highly recommend this tour.

Our tour took us round the Ancoats and Northern Quarter of Manchester sampling local eateries you probably wouldn't give a second glance. The food was excellent. Not a restaurant chain in sight. REAL local knowledge. Our guide was a mine of information about the history of the areas and stunning buildings we saw. Lots of fun facts and anecdotes thrown in for good measure. We are local folk, and we learned lots.

We loved this tour. Julia was a fantastic guide, answered many of our questions and was very knowledgeable about the city and the places we visited. The food we sampled was delicious. As visitors to Manchester we wouldn’t have found the venues without the tour. The tour made our visit to Manchester. Thank you.

We took the tour with Julia and had lovely time learning about Manchester, I studied here for 4 years and still learned lots of new things. We ate in places that we wouldn't have found ourselves, and really enjoyed the food. We picked up some ideas of what to try in future trips. We left full and very satisfied, would recommend.
