Overview

This tour starts in Marrakech and takes you to the south side of Morocco for duration of 2 days. The tour give you a chance to see and visit some of the most interesting sites in Morocco, such as Telouet Kasbah and Ait Benhaddou Kasbah, passing through the High Atlas Mountains including the magnificent oasis of Agdz and sand dunes. Here you will be riding camels, watching Saharan sunsets and enjoying the tranquility of the Moroccan Sahara Desert.

Day 1: Marrakech, Kasbah Ait-Benhaddou, Ouarzazate, Agdez-Valley, Zagora

The journey begins inside a modern air- 4x4, we will head towards the Atlas Mountains. Our first port of call is at the Kasbah in Ait Ben Haddou.

This walled city actually is home to around six Kasbahs and you’ll be amazed at the ancient feel of the place. After our stop off at the Kasbah, we will head to the city of Ouarzazate. Here you can witness the place where many Hollywood blockbuster films were shot. The Living Daylights, Gladiator, and Lawrence of Arabia, among others, have all seen the clapperboard in this city.

We also stop off at the Atlas Film Studios. There is a 3.00 euro entrance fee to the studios, which has not been included in the price. Entry to the studios is at your own discretion.

The afternoon is when we make our way through the Draa Valley. You will see a beautiful oasis and a stunning landscape that will have you taking photographs at regular points. At the end of this day, we will meet up with our camels and ride to the desert Berber camp.

The Overnight Stay

The overnight stay in the Berber tents will include a sumptuous evening meal and breakfast in the morning.

Day 2: Zagora, Draa-Valley, Ouarzazate, Marrakech

After breakfast, we take an early morning camel ride to explore the surrounding area and back to our vehicle.

We return back to Marrakech taking the road through the Draa-Valley, Ouarzazate and over the Atlas Mountains with many highlights stops on the way.

We reach Marrakech around 6 pm or 7 pm depending on traffic.

Great way to see everything if you’re a little short on time. Everyone couldn’t have been nicer and more accomplished. It was amazing!

Both was a great time, and our guide Ibrahim was a lot of fun. Camp was great, driver was great. The lunch stops were mediocre and overpriced, but not a huge deal. The only disappointment was the Ait-Benhaddou—packed with hawkers and tourists, you could get a sense of the place. Then our guide had to take us to his buddy’s scarf place, which was the most important to him. Of course.

The trip by bus to the site (for the camel ride) through out the Atlas mountains took 8 hours... Nobody warned us and we have a 12 years old child (very courageous boy, indeed). Awful! The lunches were in restaurants selected by the guides/the organization of the trip, and there was no freedom of choice: the different menus were preset and the prices were all the same and too expensive (120/130 Dirhams per person). Food without a true quality, just for tourists. On the other hand, the camel trip was spectacular: the site, the guides Ahmed and Omar, the night, etc. Be careful if you go there with a child: this kind of journey is unsuitable for youngsters under 16!

This trip could have been so much better. It is a long time in the car (13 hours with stops each way). And while we were expecting a long car journey, the stops in between didn’t provide much entertainment or information. Once we arrived in the desert, we took a camel ride and we’re dropped off at camp. There was a lot of waiting around and seemed to have no one in charge. Dinner was as expected but breakfast was bread with jam and butter. Overall, this trip could really be improved as I’m sure the Sahara has much more to give.

It is not easy to summarize and find the real causes of the problems. We had to wait 20-25 minutes for 2 people, so we were late already in the morning. However the distance and the programs are basically too much, you cannot urge people that you must be hurry all day long. It kills the experience. We had 1 hour for a village, but we spent 20 minutes at a store where we could buy scarfs. we had 1 hour for a lunch, but it is not possible to have lunch for 15-17 people within an our (not considering the differences of cultures). The roads are very good but there were plenty of times where they were working on it, so it causes more delay. The driver was amazing, considering the trip, he was driving fast and safe, but he was able to save some time on the trip. So the basic delays of people, the distance and road blocks, the quantity of sights causes too much delay and risk the chance to ride the camel in the sunset. We were so late, we were able to
