Ali our guide introduced the site bringing to life the caravans of traders on their way from Africa, through Marrakesh and onwards. He explained how the families lived and answered all our questions.

Absolutely! Here's your review: Ali provided an exceptional tour of Ksae Ait Ben Haddou. His friendliness and engaging personality made the experience truly memorable. Our driver, Mohammed, was a great driver! Highly recommended!"

Zaki is a very friendly and skilled driver. The trip from Marrakesh is a bit long but the van is really comfortable and modern and Zaki was always making sure we were happy with the trip. Ait Benhaddout is worth the trip. You cannot miss it.

Zaki, our guide for our Private tour to Aït Ben Haddou, met us on time and in his comfortable minibus, just a short walk from our Riad in the Medina. He was friendly, accommodating and able to answer any of our questions along the way. The trip through and over the Atlas Mountains was truly awe-inspiring and we were able to stop frequently to take it in. From the villages to vistas, from the colours to the climate, we experienced a plethora of different sights that only added a bonus that we actually agreed surpassed that offered by Aït Ben Haddou. Aït Ben Haddou itself was great to see albeit not on a scale we had expected and with some structures being modern addons, left by film makers from the past. The views from the terraces across the surrounding countryside were stunning! We found our young guide for this element of the trip, Hussain, less then helpful. His main focus was the films that had been shot there. He rarely offered information on Aït Ben Haddou itself and left us to ask questions. This was so disappointing given the rich history of the place and the people who lived and moved through there. We actually learnt more from overhearing other guides and from our own reading when we got back home! Given we had paid a considerable cost for this private tour we were also surprised to find that we were unable to go into the Kasbah within Aït Ben Haddou as it was deemed extra. We elected to skip the restaurant overlooking Aït Ben Haddou as we wished to spend our time seeing the sights and had come prepared having our own packed lunch. While we wanted to look around the site for a bit on our own the guide wouldn’t let us stay and insisted he return us to our driver on the other side of the river. Although we stuck generally to the suggested itinerary, we were able to tweak it to pick up on some other elements we wanted to see although not all were open to go inside due to the impact the September 2023 earthquake has had on certain areas. Was the trip enjoyable, yes! Was Aït Ben Haddou worth a visit, yes, but principally due to the drive there and back! Perhaps if we had been given a more dynamic, informative and accommodating guide when looking around Aït Ben Haddou we would have a different view of the destination!

This was a wonderful day trip from Marrakech. It looks like a long day but there are plenty of stops along the way and the scenery in the Atlas Mountains is breathtaking. Our driver, Mohammad was quite simply outstanding. The road twists and turns but his driving was smooth, safe and assured. He knows the road well! He was also polite, charming and looked after us very well. The minivan was a new Mercedes, extremely comfortable and spotlessly clean. The pickup and administration was faultless. At Ait Ben Haddou our local guide was Saber who was born in the old village and whose parents, grandparents and for generations back had lived there. It was so interesting to hear the history and stories from someone who is so obviously proud of his heritage. Lunch was pretty good too. We would highly recommend this trip.
