Visit: Riambel Beach, Riambel, Mauritius

Begin your 8 to 9 hours Southern tales tour with a complimentary hotel pick-up at your accommodation anywhere on the paradise Island.

You will meet and be greeted by our certified guide and after boarding to your comfortable vehicle, then set off for your first stop.

First of all, You'll be heading at Grand Bassin sacred lake which is the most important place of worship for Mauritian Hindus. Ganga Talao is a major draw of crowds in Mauritius, with many people visiting the site to pray, meditate, or simply to walk by the lake and enjoy the gorgeous surrounding views.

Afterwards, travel to Alexandra fall Viewpoint, where you will admire the cloud forest of Mt Cocotte, (771m) and the waterfall along with the view down to the south coast. You'll spend a tranquil moment in the surrounding virgin green valley, which is home to some endemic avian species and flora.

Next, you'll head to Gorge Viewpoint, where you will stop for a stunning panorama. On a clear day, the views from here across the gorge and down towards the west coast rank among the best on the island.

After some 15 minutes driving, you'll be heading to Visit the seven colored earth & Chamarel waterfall, which is one of the most famous and most visited attractions in Mauritius. The seven colored earth is a natural phenomenon and a prominent tourist attraction. The colors evolved through conversion of basaltic lava to clay minerals.

At around 12.15 - 12.30, you will be heading to local restaurant to savor a 3-course traditionally Mauritian lunch. Our guide will give you the Freshverde holidays' menu card where you will be able to choose your preferable menu.

Next, you'll head to Maconde viewpoint to admire the panoramic view of the remarkable ocean. You will feel like "you are in the middle of the ocean."  Our next stop, is Islet Sancho and Riviere Des Galets which will give you a memorable experience as you need to cross the low tide to explore the islet and you will witness the huge waves crashing upon the "Flat stone rocks" which is unique in Mauritius.

During the Day, you'll be heading to Rochester fall to explore the magnificent view of the waterfall which makes it a relaxing experience. A must visit tourist attractions in Mauritius; the Rochester Falls has been in the spotlight for being featured in many Bollywood movies. One of its main features is the unique and dramatic cliff face which has been transformed into jagged rectangular blocks by the force of powerful water over the past hundreds years.

Afterwards, continue to Souillac to see the astounding view of Gris-Gris, where a light wind sweeps your hair and this immaculate view stuns you – you are facing the sea – so blue – which looks like a beautiful fresco. After two minutes walking, you will explore Roche-qui pleure, where you will have the opportunity to witness the angry waves which come crashing on the cliffs. These two places (Gris-Gris & Roche-Qui-Pleure) will give you a truly amazing opportunity to take great pictures.

Ultimately, we will visit the Vanilla crocodile Park which is the home to various species of animals, reptiles and plants is set in a beautiful rain forested valley with natural freshwater springs, full of prawns and fish.

As part of your visit to the Crocodile & Giant Tortoises Park, the park’s guides will guide you through some unforgettable walks, and you will stroll through luxuriant greenery where banana trees, palm trees and giant bamboos provide shade for the crocodiles and the giant tortoises.

Your southern tales tour ends with return transport to your hotel

Duration: 9 hours

Visit: La Vanille Nature Park, Riviere des Anguilles, Mauritius

Vanille Nature Park invites you to discover the fauna and flora endemic to Mauritius and the neighboring islands. It is in the shade of palm trees and giant bamboo that you can observe the animals, the reserve: Nile crocodile, tenrec, eel, iguana or turtles of Madagascar and Seychelles.

The guides will introduce you to collections of fossils, giant tortoises and other animals that have disappeared from the region, such as the dodo and the elephant bird of Madagascar. You will also have the opportunity to discover the rare collection of the insectarium with various species from all continents.

The park is widely known throughout the island for its insectarium where the work of Jacques Siedlecki is stored; a collection of 23,000 species of beetles, butterflies and other insects for a multitude of shapes and colors.

The collection provides an overview of the five continents, with specimens of inestimable rarity, some of which are now extinct.

Duration: 1 hour

Visit: Chamarel’s Seven Coloured Earth Geopark, Chamarel, Mauritius

Undoubtedly the tallest single-drop waterfall in Mauritius at about 100m high, the Chamarel Waterfall is a striking piece of nature standing amid dense vegetation. Fed by the waters of three distinct streams pouring into Saint Denis River, it has a powerful rush with a peak flow rate in excess of 40,000 m³ per minute.

Proceeding along the Seven Coloured Earth Geopark’s 3km access road, which makes for a scenic drive to the geosite, don’t miss the waterfall’s viewpoint on your left. Offering a front-row view of this wonder of nature, it can be accessed via a trail snaking through dense foliage. The seven Coloured Earth is a relatively small area of sand dunes comprising sand of seven distinct colours (approximately red, brown, violet, green, blue, purple and yellow).

Overhanging the ledge of a basalt cliff, the Chamarel Waterfall splashes into an oval pool before flowing down a 6km tropical-forest-fringed canyon to Baie du Cap. The sight not only floods the senses with freshness but it is also a spectacular showcase of millions of years of volcanic activity. The dramatic landscape if formed by lavas of two different ages. The layer of brecciated basalt near the base dates from between 10 to 8 million years ago, on top of which lies a second layer from the intermediate period between 3.5 and 1.7 million years ago.

No wonder why the Chamarel Waterfall is ranked among the most sought-after sightseeing spots in Mauritius!

If you want to see the best bits of the South, book this tour and request Hans as your guide for an amazing experience.

Hans took us around the south of the Island and managed to squeeze in quite a few hot spots: three main waterfalls, La Vanille, Seven Coloured Earths, two stunning beaches, beautiful cliffs etc. He took the scenic route where we saw stunning views of the Island. He would also stop the car every 1-2 hours to pick us up some water and local fruit and food. Lunch was at a local Mauritian restaurant. The whole trip was planned and executed very well to show us the best bits of the Island and local culture (oppose to showing us everything). I had googled the South before visiting Mauriitus, but Hans showed us hidden treasures that not even google had told me about!

As well as seeing beautiful places, you get to meet Hans who is a really lovely person. His local knowledge of the Island and it's climate/history/culture is fantastic, we learnt so much from him. He doesn't talk at you like other tour guides do, he talks with you. Hans also shared parts of his personal life with us and what I can say is that he is a really kind, genuine and caring person.

Money well spent by booking this trip!

It was a very nice tour in which our guide was open to our wishes and ideas. He was also a very good and calm driver, which was very nice for my wife, who gets carsick very easily.
The places and parks we’ve visited during this tour are absolutely must have seen spots on Mauritius.
The lunch was also good. Overall speaking, it was a very nice tour for a reasonable amount and we were absolutely satisfied.
