Overview

See thousands of aquatic animals, from sharks to penguins, at SEA LIFE Melbourne Aquarium. As you explore the aquarium’s 15 zones, learn about the different types of fish and other marine life that can be found in the tropical and sub-Antarctic waters of Australia. Feedings and talks are currently on hold.

Please Note: The Oceanarium is currently closed until February 2024 while the zone undergoes an exciting renovation. While the Oceanarium undergoes upgrades, some of the incredible creatures – including the larger sharks and rays – will not be visible to guests. I totally forgot to write this review as things got hectic once we got home. But I just wanted to make sure I wrote about how fantastic Thomas was! Our walk through the aquarium started as he was finishing up his starfish talk, and we happened to go at the same pace where we happened upon every talk after that. He was so excited to answer any questions and by the end of us happenstancing at every one he sought me out to ask if I had anything I was wondering about before he carried on his daily duties. 10 out of 10 enthusiastic employee and certainly deserves a pizza day!!! Thanks for making our day even better!

The new part is big, with turtles, sting rays, sharks; This and the penguins area are the stars of the show. You can buy a show bag online for $50 down from $72, good value, considering the prices at the gift shop. Also, tickets online are cheaper.

We last visited about 8 years ago when our children ( now 14 and 15) were much smaller. But still a great day out. Luckily they love hamming it up, but we are all super fans of jellyfish and stingrays so had a great time. Personally, I could sit in that cafe and watch the tank there for hours...

Very underwhelming for the price - $170 for a family of four. Save your money and wait until you visit cairns or somewhere else that is more affordable - this place is a rip off

It was a day I looked forward to. An aquarium visit recommended by so many people and it started off great, but I left in tears (not exaggerating). If you’re expecting fish, turtles, under sea creatures etc. in massive aquatic tanks, then DON’T GO. If you enjoy seeing a gigantic 6m salt water crocodile stuck in a tank too small for him to turnaround in and over 20 emperor penguins locked up in a barely 6m x4m enclosure with a few ice particles tapping against the glass window to get out, THEN THIS IS THE PLACE FOR YOU. I am ashamed of myself that I paid to see this, and please don’t fall for their breeding programs. It’s no excuse to do that to an animal - especially not in a place that preaches conservation and rehabilitation of wildlife every 2 seconds. I will never forget the look in those penguins eyes and the least I can do for them is leave this review and use word of mouth to stand up for them. You can choose what type of person you want to be. Today, I was a bad person and I’m sorry.
