The monk's home-brewed beer is world renowned and there's no better place to drink it than onsite. Hike back via beautiful Lake Ammersee and stop at the scenic lakeside Biergarten for one last beer.

Andechs monastery is a bustling complex featuring a gorgeous Baroque church, views of the Alps and lots of great places to enjoy a traditional Bavarian meal or snack and the monk's home-brewed beer.

The beautiful Lake Ammersee is one of Bavaria's largest lakes and a natural wonder to behold.

Hike a portion of the famed Way of St. James up to the renowned Andechs monastery and brewery.

Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes

  • This is a private tour. It's just your group however many people you sign up.
  • Transportation to and from hike via public transportation.
  • Guided hike on the St. James Way to Andechs monastery, hike back via the beautiful Ammersee Lake.

  • Alcoholic Beverages - We will be stopping a number of small rural brewpubs and all food and beverages are at your own expense.
  • Lunch - Food at brewpubs is also at your own expense.

If you have only one trip or tour to take while visiting Bayern/Bavaria, this is the one!! Rich is an AMAZING guide and could not be more friendly, knowledge, and easy. The hike was incredible, the monetary was gorgeous, but the beer was out of this world. Top that off with some of the best food in the country and you will regret not booking this trip immediately. I thought I knew a.lot about beer, but Rich has forgotten more about beer than I'll ever know!!!! The very best time!!

This was an amazing day tour! Rich is so fun and full of facts, he really made our day and trip incredible! Hiking and drinking beer, what more could you want? I highly recommend this trip and anything that Rich is guiding! I would love to do another one of his tours in the future if I get a chance to be out his way again!

We were in Munich for the Oktoberfest and wanted to take a tour that would go with the theme of the festival but also get us active as well. Andechs Monastery Beer Hike tour was just the perfect tour! I can't say enough good things about Rich, our guide. Not only is he an expert on anything and everything about beer, but he was personable and great to talk with throughout the tour. The tour itself was amazing...from taking the S-Bahn to hiking up and back to Andechs Monastery. Absolutely stunning and the beer was soooo good! Highly recommend this tour and I am looking forward to taking another tour with Rich in the future!
