Get a deeper understanding of the darkest part of Germany's history during this half-day tour of Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial Site. With a guide, travel from Munich to the camp by train. Take a tour of the cells, barracks, and gas chamber as you learn about Munich's role in the development of the Nazi Party. Pay your respects at the memorial site, and watch a moving documentary about the camp. Children under the age of 14 are not allowed on the tour.

To begin this half-day tour, meet your guide at 10:15am at the Tourist Information kiosk in central Munich's Marienplatz. (There's also an afternoon departure offered during summer months, which you may select when booking.) Travel with your guide to Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial Site by train (it takes about an hour), and take a guided tour of all areas of the camp once you arrive.

Walk with your guide through the cells, barracks, and gas chamber. Learn the meaning behind the pictures and the museum exhibits as you read thought-provoking accounts of prisoners’ own experiences — from the camp's creation until their liberation by US forces in 1945. While getting to Dachau and visiting the site is something you could do on your own, having a knowledgeable and caring tour guide makes the experience more meaningful. Our guide, Conny, has done a lot of research and shared a lot of insights. We appreciated her guidance as we learned about a horrific part of history.

Our guide, Eric, conducted this tour with great respect and sensitivity. It is difficult to hear the torture and horror, but it is a vital lesson we should never forget. And, it was an opportunity for us to pay our respects to all who suffered and died here. Well worth your time and effort. You will be better for experiencing it.

The trains were down due to a tunnel closer. Connie, our guide was incredible. Quickly shifting us to other transportation and making the journey a perfect experience. Her knowledge and expertise added so much to the day. Thank you for helping us to better understand this terrible chapter of world history. May we all never forget to never repeat.
