I wasn’t sure what to expect but I found this tour to be one of the best I’ve ever done. Oz is excellent in dispensing knowledge and ties it all together in a bigger picture. I am happy I did this on my first day here as I can now see things that I would not have seen. Time well spent.
Ozzie did a great job sharing the group the cultural intricacies of Munich. Ozzie was very knowledgeable, conveyed innumerable facts and provided key examples and local context.
The best city tour I ever had. City tour that encompasses history, geography, sociology, politics, beer, food and of course memorable places. Oz is great!! Recommended for all. Munich trip would be incomplete without this tour.
We have taken walking city tours throughout Europe and North America, and this tour was by far the most informative and educational. One important tip ... take this tour on your FIRST full day in Munich. You will get so much more appreciation and understanding of the rest of your time in Bavaria and Germany. Oz is not only a wonderful tour guide and ambassador for Bavaria, but he is also an excellent teacher. During the tour, you are not a "tourist", you are a student. You will learn a great deal about the history and culture of Bavaria and Germany. But the education that you receive is not only specific for Munich, we now have a much better understanding of Europe and knowledge that will be extremely useful for planning our next vacation. Not only is the tour a great value, it is also the optimal length. We met early in the morning and we finished shortly after lunch. This gave us time afterward to apply our newly gained knowledge to exploring Munich. In regard to the "Third Reich", my wife was a little concern that most of the tour would focus on Hitler - it does not. The tour is more of an education of Bavaria and Germany. But for my son (college student) and myself, who are history buffs, we gained an immense amount of information on the development of the Nazi Party. Oz did a wonderful job explaining the history of the time, and how the party positioned their way into society, and wedged their way into power. But most interestingly is how he translated things into modern terms and ideologies to give you a better understanding of the culture and time period. Oz was great. We ran into him a few days later while walking through the city. He was on his way to meet friends at a Bier Hall; but took the time to take a few picture with us and help us plan the rest of our visit in Munich. Additional advice: Take the tour ... you will be extremely satisfied. Take the tour early in your visit to Munich. Bring some cash (not just a credit card). You will stop for your breakfast beer (yes, they drink beer for breakfast). You will also make a stop for lunch in the market. Drink beer while you are there. I occasionally drink beer, and my wife does not like it, but we both loved the beer in Munich.
This was a fantastic experience! Oz was a knowledgeable and thoughtful guide. We not only saw the streets of Munich, but got great historical information that explains about the when and wheres. He was also helpful in giving us tips for navigating the city. I would highly recommend this tour. We only had 3 people in this tour which made it perfect and felt like a private tour.
