There have been some mixed reviews regarding this tour, and I was a little worried about booking it, but everything worked out fine and the tour was great! I had asked for Paul Ridel to be our tour guide as a "special request", but not sure anyone actually reads those at Radius Tours, the group in Munich that actually carries out the tour. Anyway, we had Sabina as our guide, and we had seen several negative reviews regarding Sabina, so we rolled our eyes and prepared for the worst. I have to say Sabina was a decent guide. You just have to be familiar with these types of tours. You have to STICK CLOSE to the guide and listen carefully because Sabina gives all of the pertinent information about where to meet and specific times and locations. If you follow those directions you will be fine. Sabina also shared a lot of information about the area and the sites. Now, I can see where others had issues as Sabina moves quickly and does not use a flag or stick or anything. You have to keep an eye on her and do not lag behind. This is where I feel people may have gotten lost on other tours. The trip starts right at the Radius Tours kiosk inside the Munich Train Station, you will meet your guide, and then they will lead you to a train to Salzburg, our whole group sat in the same train car and it was fine, a nice ride, pretty views. Once in Salzburg, the guide leads you to a spot, explains the day and gives you a bus ticket to take you further into town. Then the guide leads you through town seeing Sound of Music and other notable sites. Then the guide tells you EXACTLY where to meet back and at what time because the bus and the train back are very specific times. You then have about 3 to 4 hours to explore Salzburg, which is great, but you can only get in one really cool thing. We went up to the top of the mountain where the fort is and the views are spectacular! This was on the cable car just outside the Sound of Music cemetery. You can grab food and drink in many places and at many price points. The pretzels are excellent! Then you meet your guide again at designated time and place, the guide gives you another bus ticket and leads you back to the train station via that bus. Then everyone gets on the train back to Munich. Again, if you pay attention to your guide and are punctual, you will be find and enjoy the day as we did. I'd love to go back and have two days in Salzburg with one overnight stay in order to see everything, but this was great

Our family experienced an amazing Day Trip Tour to Salzburg! Our tour guide Paul Riedel was fantastic! His special talents as a guide enriched this tour tremendously! I really enjoyed his singing on the train. He gave us solid history briefing of Salzburg. I appreciated his knowledge of the arts and music of the are! I liked how he offered to guide us after the official tour! We enjoyed the lunch with him, shopping and visiting a stellar hotel where we enjoyed coffee and cake! He always looked out for everyone’s needs and was very patient!
Thank you Paul for such a great day!

Our tour guide was Paul. He was very knowledgeable about Salzburg and gave us much information. He also sang karaoke to "The Sound of Music" songs while on the train - and while not always on pitch, his enthusiasm was remarkable, considering how often he must do this! (I wonder what other train passengers thought, though, and how annoyed they might be.) He took us to a great place for lunch and gave appropriate amounts of time. It was near-record heat and he was very considerate of people who were struggling in the heat. Overall, a great day!
