This impressive preserve is a destination for photographers and nature lovers. The jungle surrounds the 10th-century Ranthambore Fort. It was declared a Project Tiger reserve in 1973 and became a national park in 1980. Hawa Mahal also known as The Palace of Winds is made with the red and pink sandstones which makes it distinguished from the surroundings. The architecture of the Mahal attracts numerous tourists. The palace is a five-storey pyramidal shaped monument and was built by Sawai Pratap Singh in 1799.
