We had such a lovely experience on Thursday 27th of feb! We were picked up by an on time driver (which is not very common) who communicated our pickup time the night before (on whatsapp), and taken to ubud. His name was Darma (more about him (later) We met up with the cooking class group and went through a food market, learning about different foods and what they were used for. The our driver took us to the actually cooking class location. It was in an outdoor kitchen in a flat rice field! We started with learning how to make the offering boxes and how to fill them with flowers, which is a daily ritual in Bali. The organisation and execution of the class is one to be proud of! Never once was anyone confused or waiting. One task complete and next one began. Everyone got a go at everything, we all worked together And no cleaning dishes (thank goodness ahaha). Then we got to all sit together an have a lovely meal of the food we just made (with a free bottle of cold water)!!! It was delicious and even more special, we made it ourselves! Next the cooking class ended but our fun was not over. Our driver Darma, took us to the tegallalang rice terrace and showed us around. He dropped us out the front, paid entry and then went and parked the car. Darma allowed us to stay as long as we wanted (which to be honest was just long enough to go from one end to the next because it was very hot!). Darma then moved us into shade, bought as both cold bottled water and then went and got the car. Next stop was the monkey Forrest. Darma again bought our entry and parked the car. When he caught up with us he was explaining the monkeys. It was super helpful because a lot of the time you don’t understand the dynamics of the forest. He also visits the forest a lot so the monkeys are comfortable with him. The monkeys are too cute and it’s definitely worth a visit. We then went home and Darma had a lovely conversation on the way home! Again I couldn’t stress enough how much we appreciate our driver and that he should get more work! Thanks again Darma!

As first time visitors to Bali travelling with our teenage children, we chose this tour after reading other Trip Advisor reviews and it did not disappoint in any way. Our wonderful guide Putu was courteous, friendly and professional in every way. He shared a wealth of information about Balinese life and culture as well as Ubud itself and went above and beyond making this a real highlight of our time in Bali. Highly recommended. Our cooking class also made this a 'highlight experience' - so much fun to do as a family, delicious Balinese food to enjoy and a fantastic way to experience something of Balinese culture. Our cooking teacher and her team were wonderful - friendly, welcoming, super organised and knowledgeable about Balinese tradition and cuisine.

We absolutely loved our tour and day spent in Ubud! Despite staying for two nights, we only had one full day to explore Ubud and we wanted to maximize our experience. We booked this tour because it had many of the things that we heard were “must-do” in Ubud. It did not disappoint! Darma was our driver and he went above and beyond the whole day in making our trip memorable. He was communicative the day before our tour, punctual in picking us up at our hotel early in the morning, had cold water waiting for us, and a gem to drive around with. He shared so many tidbits of information we wouldn’t have learned unless we were with a local. He took us to the traditional market to meet up with the rest of the cooking class participants. The guide led us through the market and explained some of the ingredients we will be using for cooking - it was informative. We then got driven to the cooking class which was held in a beautiful outdoor kitchen/terrace location. It was a very hands-on experience and incredibly interactive! It ended with a delicious buffet that left all of our bellies full. Next, we headed to the rice terrace where Darma took us around and acted as our personal photographer! We got so many wonderful photos with that incredible backdrop. We then went to a bonus location on the tour - a nearby coffee plantation where we learned about local coffee, the Luwak, and got to try samplers of coffee/tea for free! After that, we headed to the monkey forest. Both my husband and I were a bit nervous about the monkeys beforehand but Darma made us feel so comfortable! Again, he took us around the forest, showing us the different groups of monkeys, and explaining a lot of nuance to us. He again acted as our photographer and made sure that we were taking photos that were both memorable and respectful to the monkeys. It was sweet to see him have a personal relationship with Nelson, the blind monkey at the sanctuary. You can really tell that he wasn’t just a driver but deeply invested in Ubud and showing us the best part of the city. Lastly, we had mentioned to Darma that we wanted to buy some souvenirs for friends and family back home. Instead of dropping us off at the hotel, he took us to an additional stop to the Ubud outdoor market where he waited for us while we shopped for over an hour! Throughout the whole day, he was friendly, considerate and knowledgeable. We couldn’t have asked for a better guide to show us around! Would DEFINITELY recommend!!
