Overview

This 4-day private tour is not only a multi-day tour, but a chance to understand human evolution. The orangutan is the great ape in Asia who only lives in Sumatra and Borneo. Orang means people and Utan means hutan or forest “people of the forest”- we share 97% DNA with Orangutans. You will visit 3 Orangutan feeding stations: Tanjung Harapan, Pondok Tanggui and Camp Lekey.

You may see another exotic animal like Proboscis monkey-Bekantan the endemic primate in Borneo. Silvered Langur, Red-leaf Monkey or Pig-tailed Monkey are exotic primates difficult to see. You may see different kinds of birds, crocodiles in the river banks, plants and blossoms. This is a wildlife experience like no other.

Please notice during peak season (Jul-Aug-Sept) all the tour will start no earlier then 10.00 am and will be finished maximum at 09.00 am. Please discus for any optional according flights schedule.

Thank you Orangutan Applause for an epic memorable trip. Because of you, we made it to Tanjung Puting National Park to see Borneo’s special animals and its local Dayak Pangkalanbun people. Guh is a talented guide for sharing his love of his home and Dayak culture to his knowledge of flora and fauna of the region. Each day we received a briefing as to what to expect. Our guide was extremely patient answering any and all questions that we had. When viewing each of the feeding stations, we got to see a dozen orangutans the first day and six at the second feeding station. I’m glad we gave ourselves 4 days and 3 nights so we could enjoy the viewings without feeling rushed. We also loved the evening and morning trek through the jungle and canoe ride along the Sekonyer River. Our Captain made sure to slow down the boat whenever we saw wildlife along the river. We were hoping he would catch fresh fish for us. The first mate made us comfortable with fresh sheets daily, cold face towels every afternoon, made sure our bathroom and sink were clean and stock with toilet paper. Also made us a Bruda root vine bracelet as a souvenir. Our chef made sure we were fed at all times from breakfast to lunch to afternoon snack and dinner. Our stomachs and hearts are full. Our care and comfort shined through with your staff. Our favorite Borneo animals, all of which our guide helped to spot: momma and baby orangutan, alpha male orangutan, Proboscis monkey flying through the trees, golden baby Macaque monkey, crocodile, kingfisher. The mosquito net was a savior so I could sleep knowing that I would not become bait. Thank you again for the gracious hospitality. San Francisco, California, USA

I can’t say enough about every aspect of this experience. If you want a trip of a lifetime, you should use this company. I’ll start with Dessy, the owner/operator, who is amazing. From my first contact with her, she advised, organized and helped plan all our travel arrangements. The airlines made numerous changes to our flights and every time, Dessy sent links with new flights, and suggestions and even contacted our hotel for date changes. She changed the dates of our nights on the boat, at the last minute, to ensure we received the full experience and still make our flights back home. Truly a special person who goes out of her way to help you. Her attention to detail and quality service is reflected in the klotok (boat accomodations) and the staff she uses. Our crew was friendly and helpful and made us feel comfortable and pampered from the moment we stepped on the boat. Our guide was Alan and the reviews I read about him prior to going on this trip were 100% accurate. He was incredible. His enthusiasm and love of nature was contagious. Our main interest in booking was the primates, but Alan’s knowledge and passion for all the nature in the National park- trees/plants/insects/reptiles etc. - made us appreciate everything we experienced. Our treks in the park were educational and so fun - sampling different fruits, water from tree roots - who would have guessed! The orangutan, probiscus monkeys, macaque monkeys, birds, and so many other sightings were awesome. The boat would stop and back up so we could spend time at each sighting and enjoy watching the animals in the trees. We never felt rushed and we spent a lot of time taking pictures. Alan explained animal behavior and told stories about animal encounters which enhanced the entire experience. Thank you for a lifetime of memories in just 3 nights.

Our family travelled with Alanconda as a guide in the first week of January 2024. We did 3 nights on a boat with a fantastic crew. The captain, co-captain and cook were all just lovely, despite the language barrier. The food was delicious, healthy and really varied. Nothing was an issue. Dessy, the owner operator facilitated everything beautifully from afar and even Whatsapp'ed me after the tour was over to let me know our outgoing Lion Air flight the following day was cancelled and to hustle to rebook onto Nam Air to ensure we made it to our next destination. I cannot speak highly enough of the entire experience (kids 12 and 17 were thrilled with everything too). I have to call out Alanconda - I cannot tell you how lucky we feel to have been led through the jungle by such a wonderful wonderful human being! His humour, storytelling and passion for his job were almost unbelievable. We certainly felt like we hit the jackpot. He just made every conversation so much fun! His enthusiasm for Bob the Gibbon and Jackie Sparrow the one-armed macaque was infectious! Go with Dessy's company, and see if Alanconda is available. DO not Oh, and the wildlife - also spectacular - but like someone else here mentioned, it's just the icing on the cake.

We went on the 3D/2N tour with our family of 4 (kids ages 13, 16). The orangutans and other primates along our journey were definitely amazing to see (and why we booked this trip), but after the trip was over, we realized the orangutans were just the icing on the cake for a wonderful, top-notch, once-in-a-lifetime jungle cruise without our family. We cannot recommend this trip highly enough. This trip was the best form of glamping ever. Maybe not great for the youngest of kids, but it's a dream for families with older kids and teenagers (who like lounging and napping). Everything was outstanding-- the guides, the scheduling, the communication, the accommodations (linens, bed) and meals (and bottled water). Our guide Alan was a perfect match for us and not only took time to teach us, but also gave us plenty of time to just enjoy the days with our family. He also arranged an additional night hike for night #2 since we liked the first one so much. You can research all you want, but the glowing reviews on Trip Advisor are accurate. Dessy has thought of every detail and has high standards for her employees. It makes a difference. We were never hurried. It was a true holiday; we never felt pushed or hurried to meet a schedule, but they also have an itinerary that works. Their crew works as a team. Book without hesitation and don't forget to pack some extra binoculars! Thank you Dessy, Alan and crew!
